I love The Arsenal. No choice but to believe. Doesn't matter how many times they let me down.

Olmo is said to be heartbroken by the prospect of not being registered in the squad, and his only desire is to play for Barca.

If he did come would he be in the right frame of mind and would he put in the effort knowing he will likely to be back at Barca in the summer?

One to steer clear of i fear.

Also can't play in CL for us.

Cant barca just cancel the contract of another player to free him up?

I doubt Olmo feels the same about Barca after 6 months of ridicule, or he wouldn't be asking his agent to find another club and then release from his contract next summer.

I think they can't afford his wages. Releasing any other player will still need them to pay of his contract.

Surely they will just "sell" him to a Chinese or Saudi club for 6 months then buy him back for next season then

He isn't.
If he isn't registered he is free to leave tomorrow, but is desperate to stay so will wait in hope.

Also makes no sense in terms of a loan. Why would we loan a player free to end his contract in 10 hours?

I am not sure if Barca still have some control on that because they have paid €47m 6 months ago which them makes some sense about loans being reported.

"Having signed the Euro 2024 star from RB Leipzig, Barcelona were unable to register him until week three of the season, when they took advantage of Article 77 of league rules which allows clubs to temporarily use up to 80% of the salary due to an injured player on an alternative.

An achilles injury to Andreas Christensen provided sufficient margin to register Olmo, but only until the end of the calendar year. That gave Barcelona time to find solutions and reach what is commonly known as “1:1”, the point at which there is a balance between outgoings and income, and a club can spend a euro for every euro they earn."

If olmo doesn't want to leave, he may not want to exercise that option so a loan option would be a compromise

Honestly, I think it's way more complex than Olmo being able to buy himself out. For example, could Barca recover some of the fee from the player? In England clubs amortise the fee and the wages over the length of the contract, is it the same in Spain or is it shown as the salary? The same Guradian article suggest that Olmo's salary was shown as €21m on the balance sheet whereas its reported that Olmo is on €9m/season.

I am just happy to have a link to him from a source other than insider rubbish.

But why would we take that option?

I want players at Arsenal who want to play for Arsenal with their heart and not for a stopgate.

How is it a stopgate?

What's a stopgate

posted 2 days, 21 hours ago

A gate that stops things, usually a pet or a baby.

Dunno. I assume gt thinks he wants to use Arsenal as a stepping stone? I mean, that's true for all players who aren't from the academy.

Once Eddie scores the stopgates will open

I want players for Arsenal who want to be here. Olmo surely has his heart at Barcelona and I can't see that will change.

I think GT means a stopgap while Olmo waits for his dream to play for Barca can continue in a few months time. I think GT is questioning the commitment Olmo will give us.
He probably also has concerns about Olmo adjusting to the PL quickly while also noting Olmo cannot play in the CL after UEFA updated the rules alongside the new format.

Oh....havent consider that. But good point.

Cesc left us to play for his dream club Barca and then saw what the politics is like and decided to move to Chelsea. Players can have their eyes opened at their dream club. So I wouldn't question his commitment to Arsenal if he does want to move.

I don't think we need Olmo for the Champions League tbh. I assume we can beat Zagreb/Girona without Saka. That means Round 16 stages in March? Saka could be back by then if his recovery goes well.

Olmo solves a lot of issues on the left side next season tbh. Trossard's contract for one. I think its makes sense to sell Trossard next season.
