After years of private discussions, dressing room pranks from international team-mates and outright public flirtation from both parties in the press, Cesc finally returned in the summer of 2011 and even then it was not straightforward.

To be honest. I would rather play Cesc as a false 9 than buy back Vela footballwise. See how desperate I am to bring back Fabregas.

you're obsessed and not thinking rationally!

I am not pp12. He is world class and for this price you shouldnt miss this opportunity.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He's a traitor and couldn't wait to leave us, get over him!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Now you're the one not thinking rationally.

Bale moving to Real made Ozil a possibility.
Had that move not happened, I wonder who we'd have signed.
And that's the trouble. All our signing seem to rely on other clubs signing players.
Why don't we act like a big club, and go and instigate signings, rather than just wait to see what happens elsewhere?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lex knows. 100% agreeing. Proactive is the key.

But it's true he couldn't wait to leave us, and don't think I don't remember him giving Barca the goal in the CL the season before! He didn't even want us to win

"He didn't even want us to win"
Seriously?!
PP is it that time of the month?
Lex,
I don't think you can use the Bale-Ozil story to say we are not pro-active.
Everyone knew Bale was going to Madrid, it was just a matter of time. Gazidis also confirmed that the Ozil deal took months.

Fair do's, TBOK, but what if the Bale deal had fallen through at the last moment?
Please tell me how wrong I am that Cesc couldn't wait to leave us!
He flipping took a pay cut to go!
Real moved for Bale.
Arsenal waited for Ozil.

Well Levy was trying to delay the selling of Bale because of this, so it's probably true

He was ALWAYS going to go home to Barcelona though.
We ALL knew that for a long, LONG time.
He didn't dessert us. We failed him if anything.

I think the plan was either Draxler or Ozil. If the Ozil deal would have failed, we would have moved for Draxler last summer.
