But Guvnor, wouldn't you check if your girlfriend was with you or not before going to see if it's an intruder, this is what I don't understand

For me what makes it believable is the fact that he is a double amputee which immediately changes the complexion of the person.Someone who doesn't have legs is going to have a heightened sense of fear and vulnerability. Add to that he lives in a place where people coming into your house and slitting your throat is not uncommon and you get a mad who genuinely thought there was an intruder and feared not only for his life but the life of his Girlfriend.

If he'd have moved his hand/arm a couple of feet before he got up he could have made sure Reeva was there and was awake....

So he didn't know if she was in bed or awake, but told her to get down anyway.......and when he got no response he just assumed she was silently obeying him
