I too think Jags might be going after Arsenals defensive display against NY Red Bulls.

I would have preferred Gary Cahill as a replacement, but he would cost £17M. Which would swallow up all or most of the Jags money.

It would be good if we could bring in a good Center-back and have money leftover for Jarvis.

Your guess? Well when you put it like that

I thought Rodwell was being kept in cotton wool just before last summer under SAF's orders? Or are the banks forcing this sale?

Everton players usually take the club line when speaking to the press that's why I take Baines's comments as an attempt to soften the blow.It will be interesting to see what percentage of the fee Moyes recieves as he's seen nothing of the Pienaar and Vaughan fees or any of the proceeds from the sale of Bellefield.

So now you think Baines is being used as a tool to placate fans?

You,the ultimate rebel believe Baines would do this

I was wrong about Rodwell but was passing on info from a good source.I was right about Gosling though.Let's see how long we can hang on to Rodwell.My guess is that we will only sell one of our better players per season.

The players are constantly used to reinforce and spin the official line.

The Rodwell one was from a source, a source who didn't know he was going to sign a nice long deal.

You then have taken a nothing article and decided Jags is a done deal to Arsenal. Tell you what, I bet his real target is Gary Cahill, I get that from the tone of Baines comments

It's a nothing story.

====

Arsene Wenger has already had one offer for Jagielka knocked back but an improved bid is thought to be imminent.

====

Who thinks this improved offer is imminent? Leighton, Everton or a source?

If you were to sell jags for somewhere in the reagion of £15-£17 million, that would represent fantastic business. One thing you have to ask yourself is, will Moyes get all the money or will he just get a certain amount to replace him?

Rooney signed a nice long deal it's the Everton way I'm not having a pop about that either as it's sensible practice.The same source gave me the info about Gosling wanting to leave at the same time which turned out to be true.

It would be terrible, with players of lesser quality and experience going for 12-15M we would be a poorer team. Still believe it's Cahill Wenger wants (better distribution than Jags) and more years to give to club.

Hope that you are right PJ's but why would Baines be talking about it if there wasn't anything in it.

True to a certain excess but would you not take £17 million for him and replace him with Scott Dann for maybe £8 million? Jags has been brilliant but isn't getting younger and I do think you need to sell before you buy and someone has to go?

That would give us a negative net spend for the summer of £11,000,000 PJ'S would be ecstatic as he greeted news that we have nothing to spend again with outlandish claims about us turning into the new Man U or Arsenal.

Crispy

Maybe PJS just doesn't like listening to idiots who spout outlandish proper gander and give it the old "good source" excuse, when said idiot is invariably wrong?

Easy Crispy, not getting your own way?

KLS, would prefer Jags over Danns.

Very creative!!!!!!

You do read in to things a bit crispy, Baines gives an interveiw about not letting speculation be used as excuses and you decide he's off.

Totally agree but I think you may have to put up with it, if your to sign anyone. A summer of no new signings could be extremely damaging to the players spirit, even the Everton teams spirit!

Why sell one player to replace him with a lesser one? I still would have gone for Taylor at Newcastle, that would be the better move and leave more cash to spend.

Moyes may not get any of the fee.Doubtful but then he didn't get any of the Pienaar or Vaughan fees.Why wasn't that money not used as a down payment on N Zogbia ???

posted on 1/8/11

Taylor would have been a good shout but he does suffer with injurys, maybe a few less now Carroll has left!

Wouldn't that be good in the derbys?
