Told you this would get over 100 comments.

Alv stop that. Messi's vision gets ridiculously overrated.

Its nothing special. His lob passes are pretty good but he doesn't have special execution.

Nani used to be better than Bale so it's a fair comment. Consistency is all he's lacking.'Ability wise he's actually better than Bale'

Darren.

Now use that same analogy when comparing Messi & Ronaldo plus the fact that Messi is equally if not more consistent than Ronaldo. And that answers the question

Messi is the superior player. Anyone can see that. It's just personal preference who you'd want, but Messi on top of his game, no one comes close in the current era.

But so far in 2013 Ronaldo has been better. However you'll never get the feeling that Ronaldo is by far the best, you get that with Messi. Plus one is often cited as GOAT, while the other doesn't...

Hunting, I agree, Messi is the better player.

You could argue over the last month or so Ronaldo is in better form, however, it doesn't make him the better player.

Their form is like a pendulum at times with one out doing the other then it swiftly changing. But overrall Messi has been the more consistent of the two as well as having more ability.

But Ronaldo isn't as far off as people make out and is a superb player.

Is he the best player in the world
right now? I think he is. He is at
the top of his game and nobody
comes close to him at the
moment, not even a certain Leo
Messi.
----------

The last sentence, as is usual with Batmanu, was designed to get a rise. Ronaldo has had a better last 3 weeks in what is a genuinely terrible run of form for Messi. Hardly worth fickle comparisons. There are a shedload of players in better form than Messi at the moment as well. A few weeks of better form can't be taken in isolation.

Everybody knows & accepts that Ronaldo is exceptional, but no matter how much he improves he will never be as good as Messi.

He might have a better year, season etc.
But when it comes down to who the better player is, Messi wins hands down and always will

Its like Lampard vs Scholes.
Lampard could score a 100 goals a season but he'll never be considered a better player than Scholes.

ps: i intentionally chose an analogy that most United fans would find difficult to disagree with

Lampard is better than Scholes.

Old Paul's well overrated.

That comment is enough to add an extra 100 comments to this article

I disagree by the way

Scholes has always been overrated. Ginger reckless player. Lampard is a mile ahead of him

HK knows

Scholes is/was and will always be a terrible player.

I agree Henry, Lampard didn't bail out on the international stage.

Paul "Englands best ever midfielder" Scholes, was so good, he had to play left wing for England

A rise out of who? On current form Messi does not come close to Ronaldo. I don't see how anybody can argue otherwise.

Because neither Lampard or Gerrard were remotely capable of doing anything other than march up and down the field in straight lines doing anything ranging from very little to absolutely fúck all. Scholes actually had a bit of adaptability.

Not that I'm saying Scholes is better than either (I prefer Lampard for definite), but to use his moving to the left wing - a move made because we had a manager completely incapable of creative thought in either tactics or strategy - as a stick to beat him with is desperate.

In 2013 Ronaldo has scored 17 goals, while Messi has scored 13 goals.

yeah Batmaonu not close at all

Sadly we can't argue that Fergie, although he is a total cretinous at times, is the best manager. That's why players like Scholes and Giggs, and even younger players such as Welbeck, Evans, do so well even if their ability isn't as good as other players'.

I guess it was that same reason Joe Cole played left mid

What?

You're lost, mate. Seek help. Fast.

Ronaldo is not nearly as great as he is made to appear by the media. He is fast and strong and he is a good finisher, but he cannot win matches on his own like Messi can or Maradona or Pele before him. That's because Ronaldo cannot create much, he mostly only converts what others create for him. That's because he is not particularly good at dribblings and passes. He can beat players one on one regularly only if there is lots of space to run past them.

I don't know whether I should answer your question first or seek help fast. This could be wasting precious time but I find it difficult to understand your preferences.

Either or. Won't make a blind bit of difference. You're fúcked either way.

Ronaldo had to put up with dross at utd?? lol

Tevez, Rooney, Evra, Vidic, Ferdinand, Nani, Giggs...

Yeah, real dross there. However did he manage it.

I know what you mean but I think that's a very black and white way of putting it and I wouldn't really agree.
