I'm 47 next week
Proves my point.
What has that got to do with anything? Kind of proves mine if anything.
A proper fan loses with a degree of grace no matter the circumstances, Utd fans take it to a new level. I blame global brand.
Bad bad losers.
Are you proud of your boys display?
I would be, Madrid are a great team, you made them look ordinary...until Nani went off. Ronaldo was humble and respectful before you, who cares what anyone else thinks?
Fair point, I am also 47 next week, happy birthday by the way, that does nor excuse your nonsense, the OP makes a good point, your babble does not

Fair player Hector
Probably better off if we ignore that middle aged idiot.
I don't think the Chelsea fans are too bad, there is a bit of a split but a decent few aren't conspiracy theorists when it comes to referees. The City fans are pretty good. It is hard to tell with the Arsenal fans what are their views what is wumming and what they actually believe, I'll skip them.
The Liverpool fans are by far the worst for it, it literally seems to only be one in every few that doesn't think there is some massive conspiracy in United's favour...
I can tell if it bitterness or they are some of the world's most paranoid unhinged individuals..
Mix I think.
I'm no Utd fan, but your game was great sport, great viewing. The ref spoilt it as a contest but made it as a spectacle, no neutral wanted Madrid to win, but they were admirably clinical when their chances came and deserve full respect.
Young utd squad, so much better than the rest, can only get better with the experience....Scary thought!

your right...OP you obviously love your club and not my business at this stage.
There are a few reasons for this.....
Wummery
Some people say it all the time simply to wind us up. It makes them feel better about being miles behind us if they can at least wind us up until we react.
Word of mouth.
Lots of people don't even see our games, but will hear from a mate or a work colleague that "the Ref won if for United again" and they just believe them.
Can you believe people actually thought the ref at WHL was bias AGAINST Spurs this season, beggars belief!!!
The same idiots that have been saying this stuff for years are now parents and teaching it to their kids as if it is fact.
I don't mind the wums so much, what really is tragic is the thousands and thousands of people who actually think its true.
Op
Shít happens mate, a lot of other fans have said we were unlucky and praised us, so dont let the small minded minority get to you fella, time to look forward, roll on Chelsea game
I think it comes from the fact that we are the best team in the league. We have the ball in and around the opponents box for the longest period of time, and thus we create the most opportunity for penalty decisions and red cards etc to go in our favor.
When there are more big decisions for a referee to make, there are more chances for him to get the decisions wrong, and of course people only remember the decisions that go for us.
It is similar in poker, you only remember the bad beats, not the lucky hands.
ill put my neck and out and say it was a great performance from united ....and deserved to go through ....
but im an abu , im a liverpool fan...and thats we do ....we hate seeing you do well , its just banter ...its just how it is ...
you've been laughing at our demise ......so dont go bananas that we enjoyed your exit
At the risk of getting too technical, there are a lot of cognitive biases, here's a list:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cognitive_biases
In particular: Anchoring, Attentional bias, Availability heuristic, Availability cascade, Base rate fallacy, Bias blind spot, Confirmation bias etc.
I try to use facts to back up my arguments, but this can annoy people!
I laughed and now I've read the OP's article I'm so ashamed. Because United fans are so good hearted and never take delight in others misfortunes. For example they would never laugh at City, or Arsenal or Chelsea, and most of all they would never Laugh At Liverpool.
Thanks OP for the sheer feckin hypocrisy of your post.
bat_out_of_hell pretty much sums it up nicely. It's banter between rival fans and deep down they know there's no genuine favouritism behind it all.
As for the rest of the people out there who have never watched a football game who suddenly start WUM'in thinking Man United got what they deserved, that is the cause of the media. They just read what ever is posted in front of them and consider it the truth.
The media controls the mind of the masses.
It's because we are better than them all. This leaves them with few chances to laugh at us. They generally need to wait for other superior teams to beat us i.e Barca and Madrid or fluke seasons where we don't win the title.
It's human nature to take smug satisfaction in seeing your betters fail at something
But banter doesn't fully cover it.
When some United fans see the Eboue incident, their brain actually tells them RED CARD.
When those same fans look at the Nani incident, their brains tell them "Booking would be harsh"
You see what you WANT to see.
My dislike for Nani probably makes me look for every mistake he makes, just as his fans will scrutinize every move Valencia makes.
We rate a player/team on what we see.
We see different things depending on what our intention is from the off set.
The ref got two big decisions in the game wrong. Nani should have been booked and Rafael sent out for handball on the line denying a clear goal. Then Madrid awarded a penalty. Therefore United can bemoan one decision but the more you moan about that and act like babies yet refuse to acknowledge other decisions the less sympathy you get.
Far too often United act as if refs turn up to watch them win and that if they do their job and it in anyway affects United winning you behave in a way that makes the rest of us smile. Welcome to the real world!

It doesn't always work like that. I am an admirer of Nani's talent and ability, but honest enough to recognise he made a challenge that was bad enough to warrant a red card.

To be honest all we really want is for them to not terribly handicap us during the match with an unfair decision...
It is terribly entertaining watching the hordes of bitter opposition fans justifying the fact United got a bad decision by saying they have more bad decisions than most in their favour...
Someone I asked for proof of this the other day said no need it is common knowledge
