Drogba shared the goal burden with Lampard and the wingers/inside forwards. We always scored a lot as a team.
Drogba, Rooney, Torres but they all had something different

It's easy to score that many when you are the only striker in a team
=========================
Exactly.
Especially, if you are a top class forward - which Fernando was at the Pool.

I do not believe I have suggested he was anything but a top class forward.
Drogba was better
All great in there own ways well in the past atleast
Drogba scored his fair share although he seemed to pop up in finals and make his biggest contributions, can you say the same for torres or rooney?
Drogba in the prem: P226S100A54
League cup: P15S9A2
FA: P27S12A6
CL: P69S34A8
But you know that he brought more to the team than these numbers
34 goals in the CL is an amazing record.
what is the record for the CL?

If you read my earlier comments, you would know i too championed Drogba.
Rooney has plenty of time yet to eclypse them both
Torres is nowhere near the footballer Rooney is anyway
I'd go Rooney/Drog and then Torres
I have heard people say Rooney's best season statistics wise was not his best performance was.
It was when we played one up front quite a bit for a season (we had Berba but no Hernandez yet) and he scored a shed load of goals.
As a Liverpool fan I have to say.......................................................................
Drogba !
No defenders could handle him on his day. I've never known a striker to bully defenders like he could. A beast of a forward.
So for me it's Drogba, with Torres in second and Rooney in third
Since the original post asked who was the best at the very top of their game i think career stats are useless. If you perhaps narrow it down to single season performances then it's better for determining who was best at the 'very top of their game'. One season is a good parameter as it has a clear start and finish and shows consistency for a length of games.
Rooney has had two exceptional seasons - at least in terms of goalscoring. But in his best goalscoring form he always delivered more to the team. Frequently he was the best United player in terms of creativity, assists and just general all-round performances as well as being able to do something extraordinary.
Therefore, at their very best, I'd go for Rooney.
performance was = performance wise.
Drogba.
Powerhouse with very good ability on the ball and a scorer of big goals in big games. Unplayable most of the time.
i think a better debate would be to include Henry for Rooney.
for me rooney isnt a striker

In that case though there wouldn't be a debate. Anyone who said anything other than Henry would be an imbecile.
Rooney is a striker.
He hasn't got the guile and technique to be considered a proper no.10. He's a striker, he just likes to drop deeper and be involved in the play more - though personally i prefer him higher up because, like i say, he isn't tidy enough on the ball. But either way, he's a striker.

a very narrow minded view there. just because its your opinion doesn't make it right
Henry is miles ahead of these three
No, the fact that it's right makes it right
Miles ahead isn't right...
I do think Henry is a bit better than the 3 of them though, quite possibly the best around in his prime.
Drogba - Torres - Rooney.
Leave Henry out of it, he was a class apart!
you have to remember henry was a central figure in one of the best teams the PL has seen, i do think he was a class player but take all around him away and would he have been the same player. i think most would agree that drogba, rooney and torres have all played in faltering sides at some point and still outperformed
TRFC, we'll never know and any attempt to know is pure speculation. What we do know, however, based on performances and consistency, is that Henry was ahead of all three and most likely the best PL striker there's been.
Performances is all we have to go on so there's little point trying to determine what might have been if Henry was not in a great team. For the record, there was numerous times that Henry seemed to win game single-handedly.
