theresonlyonereds still making the same old errors!
firstly I didn't say at the world cup. I said in the world cup. why? because the world cup qualifiers and the world cup finals are all part of the world cup competition. this has been explained several times.
secondly why is knowing a lino a wild claim? just because you have a crappy life where you don't meet anyone doesn't mean we all do.
thirdly what will giving you names do?i could easily give you names but it wouldn't prove I know them would it?
I would have thought even you could work that out but apparently not.

If teams are playering in the World Cup Qualifiers then surely they aren't IN the World Cup until they've qualified, No?
no. the world cup is the competition as a whole. it is then split up into the qualifiers and the finals.
you don't qualify for the world cup. you qualify for the finals.
But the finals are the World Cup not the qualifiers, i doubt very much a footballer would say he's played in the world cup unless he went and played in the finals

Raj, you're hilarious!
and there we have it. theresonlyonereds can try to laugh, but he has to leave the three points alone because there is no comeback.
owned indeed.
red no they are both the world cup.
the guy I know played in a crappy qualifier but told people he'd played in a world cup match. and he had.
same as many of the non league players I know that have played in the fa cup.
Raj
Ok but either way its misleading if the full version of events isn't explained at the time.
So to Qualify for the Olympics, if someone swam in the time trials but failed to qualify, does that then make them an Olympian?
red well I didn't find it misleading.
and no the Olympics is not the same. you compete in your own country for the right to represent your country and this is done at other events.
those events are not part of the Olympics.
red well I didn't find it misleading.

In/at? I would think everyone would automatically think you meant the finals!! Therefore misleading!!
well you think wrong.
many of us knew the guy at uni and knew exactly what he meant.
I think perhaps the problem is that too many people on here were upset after id owned them and so were desperate to mock something without thinking it through first.
if you accept that the world cup includes qualifiers and finals then the conversation should stop there.
just because you misunderstood doesn't mean I said or did anything wrong.
many of us knew the guy at uni and knew exactly what he meant.
-----
You told us about knowing the guy, he never told us anything so why should we know what he meant?
You've also got to understand that many people think in/at would mean the finals.
This owned thing is mighty childish.
I don't really care whether you think its a reasonable misunderstanding or not.
fact is playing in the world cup includes qualifiers and finals.
so I was right.
why your are still banging on about it is beyond me.
why is owned childish? its an excellent expression of what has happened. dry your eyes son.

I thought he meant the finals to be fair. When people refer to the World Cup they are usually talking about the finals.
theresonlyonereds owned indeed. so much so you are left with smileys instead of any response to the three points.
statman you copied the comment that sums it up. I didn't say at the world cup.
if I had then id agree.
but thanks for telling us what people mean. you have obviously surveyed the global population which is good of you.
Who do you reckon will win tonight Raj la?
red because you are going on about it i.e. getting upset.
Raj tells us quick who you think will win, so I can bet on the other team.

So what makes you think that prople are crying when all they are doing is questioning what you say?
