Why have you put Campbell in? He hasn't played for 2 years and his 2 years before that were pretty crap. So you've only really given him 6 years. Poor Sol.
I mean in the last 10 years.
For more than 10 years you could argue Rio has been the best in the world. Since joining Leeds 13 years ago he's been on top form.
Vidic didn't really get going for us until the 06/07 season.
Consistently Rio, at their best Vidic. With Terry not far behind, I hate the man with a passion but during Jose's time at Chelsea he really was a quality defender.
I assued you meant over the 10 year period. Apologies.
Hyypia was good but not in the class of these guys.
Thanks for sharing that jenners.
If were talking when everyone is at their peak even ass a Chelsea fan i have to say Sol Campbell the guy was a beast then at his peak Terry was the best in the world in 06/07 Vidic comes third and is probably the best of the four now. Rio is at the bottom of the lot i can still not get over how he was worth £30 million he is average at best.
I'd take Paul Mcgrath over them all. But on that list, i'd go;
Vidic
Rio
Terry
Sol
I'd say Terry is the weakest of them all.
Paul Mcgrath hasn't played in the last 10 years.
what about Carvalhio (spelling) he made Terry look good.
Rio is at the bottom of the lot i can still not get over how he was worth £30 million he is average at best.
Rio
(massive gap)
Vidic
Terry
Campbell
I see ' King of the Bridge' is talking bollox on yet another thread. I'm adamant he just hasn't watched Rio. Like I said on another thread. Between 06-08 there wasn't a central defender in the game that could touch Rio. He was utterly brilliant. Vidic was solid and reached his heights maybe a year or two after, but Rio was the standout defender over that period, and has been putting in great performances for both club and country for over a decade. In terms of positioning and awareness, he blasts aside the lot of them with ease.
Rio for me.
Never thought he would repay that £30m but now it looks a bargain.
Rio easily, opposition fans hate him and let that cloud their judgement, if they took a step back and were honest, they'd say rio all day long.
Rio by a country mile and some more! And king of the bridge has been nominated as idiot if the year!
Sol was a beast at his peak and so was vidic, and to be fair so was terry. But king if the bridge suck those lemons
Sol Campbell. As soon as Arsenal lost that man their defending went into free fall.
Chelsea without JT look very dodgy.
Phil Jones or Johnny Evans come in for Rio and there's barely a difference.
Tells you exactly what you need to know.
Are you serious so Evans and jones played let in all the goals and rio comes back and united go 12 points clear and hardly let anything in! Tells you what you need to know. And this us the last 10 seasons.....how many titles? Champions league?? Tells you what you need to know......serously you know sweet FA about football if you think rio, one of the best centre backs in football in the last decade is average
Always liked Ferdinand, I prefer his style of play to Terrys although I do see why Chelsea fans rate Terry as well. Different types of central defender though, to be fair.
I'd say it is pretty close between Campbell and Ferdinand for me.

Even Terry knew Rio was the best in the works for a few years. He said so himself.
Paul Mcgrath hasn't played in the last 10 years.
