I tend to agree about Gera, that's two serious injuries now and I don't think he'll make much impact when he eventually gets back.
I would move Fortuné on, he's not going to get the goals we need.
Reid seems too injury prone now, he's our number one RB and is great when he's in the team, but he's only made nine league appearances this season.

How many strikers do we need next season. Clarke went with 4 this season and he has ended up trying to fit Rosenberg in anywhere, on the wing, in midfield, up front. He has just tended to get in the way. I think 3 genuine PL quality players is enough.

As an aside the latest striker to be linked is Imoh Ezekiel, who I know nothing about.

I'm not so sure Chelsea will play Lukaku next season. I still don't think he's good enough for them yet. If they're not going to play him, I'd like to think he'll come to us again.
And I am also pretty sure we will keep Peter Odemwingie.

Disagree Aries.

Lukaku is good enough for Chelsea. He's better than Demba Ba and Torres. He has scored more goals than both this season. Imagine the damage he would do feeding off the balls from Hazard, Mata and Oscar.

He'll go back to Chelsea next season and play a part. He's their player and there's nothing we can do about it. I'm grateful they let him come here and I'm sure they're grateful that we've developed him into a special player.

In my opinion, it's teasing yourself to believe he's coming back next year and you're only going to be disappointed.

I'm not worried though. We'll do what we always do and get someone else in. We've been linked with a few quality youngsters recently which is good.

As for the contracts :

From the way Clarke spoke about Gera when he had his 'op'...it sounded like he would be here next season, so maybe a 1 year deal, although personally I wouldn't offer him one personally.

Reid, awesome pro for us. One of our best players of the last 3 years but age is catching him now and injuries are affecting him. I'd let him go but try and keep him on in some coaching role. He's brilliant to have a round. New RB therefore needed for the Summer and I'm one of the few who thinks Billy Jones is awesome.

MAF is so underrated and so underused in my opinion. He's been played out of position this year and featured rarely but never moans, never plays up...just gets on with it. I think he adds something to our squad and he makes up for his lack of goals with other good qualities. I'd have him on my bench every day of the week.

JT is also out of contract and I'd release him and spend on a new winger. The goalscoring 'Scott Sinclair' type.

I can still see Chelsea signing a striker in the summer, although I'm still not sure that means Lukaku will stay. He's miles better than Torres and should overtake Ba soon enough.

If Mourinho came back to Chelsea would he do Clarkey a favour? Maybe not before looking after his own team.

Id give Reid a player/coaching contract - similar to the one we gave Deano.

As for Gera, he is my favourite player ever at west brom. If the club think he is able to play enough next season, I'd love to give him a new contract. It'd be too sad to have him leave through injury.

I think if MAF is happy to stay as a squad player, I would also extend his contract. He is a solid back up player. I saw someone make a good point about mulumbu a few weeks ago - his best mates at the club are odem and fortune. If both go, there'd be a bigger chance of him leaving, and I dont think we can afford that

Agree with you jh about MAF -very good player! Doesnt get the credit he deserves

Just been announced that Steve Clarke won't extend the loan of Lukaku. Oh well. Whatever the striker situation, Fortuné and Rosenberg are not the answer. Long will be here next season and Odemwingie should be as well, and we'll need at least one more.

Think Odemwingie will go.

He doesn't want to be here and a good chunk of the fans don't want him here.

Think what happened in January is too much to back from for some.

I'd like to see Fortune's contract renewed, good squad player to have.

Reid: awesome pro as said above but expect us to buy fresh legs in that area. Could be kept to be a bench player.

Gera: One injury too many for me and although its sacrilege today it. I would release him. That said, a role as senior pro influencing the youth would be nice.

Lukaku: I am convinced he will be back. Roman has already said he is monitoring a European striker. If Lukaku knows what's best, then he'll opt for 1 more season with us

That should of course say 'sacrilige to say it' - referring to Gera. Why not edit feature?

Thing is, it's not up to him.

To a degree it is. If Chelsea buy a new striker and keep Torres and Ba, then he can request it and be firm on that.

I accept not literally his choice but he can push hard. He seems plugged in and focused on his career development (an example to many) and won't tolerate a backward step.

I'm sure Chelsea will feed him the whole...'you'll play a part this season' which will, in my opinion, keep him there.

Torres may be shipped out in my opinion leaving Lukaku and Ba as the back up strikers to, probably, Falcao.

Stairs, there's no Edit button, but Preview is your friend
Re Lukaku, the ever-dependable Sky Sports News (cough) quoted Stevie C yesterday as saying he wouldn't be taking Lukaku back for next season. Whether Steve's basing that on word he's had from Chelsea, it didn't say. But I too remain convinced that at least we will try and get him back here because he's happy with us and he will develop more quickly with us than by being in the thick of keeping the Chelsea subs' bench warm.
