United are on the verge of winning our title back, rio knows this and is being a professional in his attitude and should be lauded for his stance, england come second and rightly so.
United have already won the title. Rio knows this and is just being the egotistical, self-centred horse lipped that he really is.

The most racist comment I have ever seen
Fair play for not being a uncle Tom.

Rio has been a top servant for his country
The overreaction to this is utterly laughable
He could simply retire but chooses not too. He had no reason to expect a callup given the pathetic treatment he's received of late. Being stripped of the captaincy without even been told, being a scapegoat for JT's racial abse of his brother, and the current manager gobbing off on the tube about him being finished at international level
I doubt the England qualifiers were even in his mind when his training regime was planned
He took the trouble to go see Roy about it and Roy completely understands why he can't play this time and appreciates the fact he will be available in the future
But let's forget all that and just make up a bunch of bollox about him turning his back on his country
Rio is as patriotic at they come
Furthermore, this 'partying with Styles' nonsense
I doubt his regime says anything about him not being able to go out to dinner or go watch a concert
He's a United player though, so let's exagerate it as much as we can, ignore everything that has been said by Rio and Roy, and nail the guy for the hell of it
Rio should retire in my opinion. He deserves better than all this bollox for his service to England

Surely can't be true that he is flying to Qatar and back to do TV work?

It was pre-planned
Another overreaction going on again

Yes, flying 1st class is often likened to playing 90 minutes of football + several training sessions.

Rio should just call it a day
The guy has played over 80 times for England and is as passionate about playing for them as they come. If people think he just woke up one day and decided to start taking the pizz, then they are deluded
If he say's he cannot play, he cannot play
Now the media are slating him for taking a flight to do pre-planned TV work. What they do not know is that He goes through a set routine whilst flying so it doesn't affect his back. I read about it last year.
Pathetic media, pathetic fans
Retire Rio. Fek em!
I'd have had a lot more respect for Rio if he'd simply told Hodgson to go feck himself when he was called up
The treatment he received for footballing reasons was shameful but his actions since being called up have been pretty shabby

With the greatest respect, none of us are in a position to judge what is good, bad or indifferent for Rio.
It's not really a dodgy back, is it?
It's a situation that requires management if he is to continue playing top level sport.
Hardly walking onto the plane with a stick and limp, is he?!

I thought that at first. The way Capello treated him with the captaincy and the Roy dumping him because of JT and then gobbing off on the tube, I was so wanting him to tell em to get fekked
I actually now respect the fact he still says he will be available in the future but this has come at too short notice given his set routines and obvious previous commitments. Let's face it, as far as Rio understood, his international career was over (as Roy mentioned on the tube) and everytime a reporter asked Roy about it, he wouldn't talk about it
Now though
I agree with you again after ll the garbage I've heared this week
Fek em Rio. Concentrate on where you're appreciated I say. 80+ caps and this is how they treat ya

But it does suggest to me that he has been persuaded by his boss to duck out of England and that he may not be as unfit as he claims.

He hasn't claimed to be unfit

But as I said, managing a flight in 1st class is not the same as managing training and games.
