So why this BS excuse that the official saw the incident and yet did nothing?
"Where one of the officials has seen a coming together of players, no retrospective action should be taken"
That's the key quote from the statement.
It's the rules that are the issue and it would be ludicrous to alter them due to one extremely rare incident.
Mexican rightly points out that the FA have circumvented their own rules on previous occasions, however it is not something that generally "should be" done. Furthermore, the Ben Thatcher incident was easier to challenge because the players' club had already banned him for six games anyway.

OK, so it's the admission of guilt from the club that made the overturning of Thatcher's decision easy? And no chance we'll get that with Gangsta man Whelan.
just imagine if this tackle had been commited by joey barton or lee cattermole, i guarantee you the f.a would have charged them
Looking at the challenge a few times i honestly don't think he's meant to do him, just my opinion, but would agree that the fa are neither use nor ornament.
Interesting stance from talksport, as I seem to remember they were all about defending Shawcross and Taylor at the time.
this was exactly the same incident with the shane long and hutton
He didn't mean to do it but it was a shocking tackle which he should be puninished. Someone has been injured.
The FA aren't accountable to anyone or anything.
It was one of the worst challenges I've ever seen.
Rumour has it that Pulis was scouting him, so he was out to impress...
Lol, Pulis was applauding it most probs.

Pulis was doing more than applauding. He was choking his chicken over it.

Two wrongs don't make a right though, i don't believe the was any intent there, you can be booked/sent off without touching anyone if the ref deems intent was there, take a look at some of gerrards challenges where you can clearly see the intent in his expression as he makes them.
Your missing the point, wether there was intent or not, a player has been injured from a terrible and un necessary tackle. No one can condone that tackle, he's put a player in hospital.
Maybe, but i've read a lot and heard a lot over the weekend about it and a lot has been hysterical rubbish, some comparing it with keane on haaland which is just ridiculous, it was a bad/badly timed challenge but certainly not malicious.
On another day haidara's leg would of snapped into two pieces, I would ban the wigan player for life if I was in charge
That's what i mean about hysterical rubbish.
On what grounds can they ban him? It is not like he purposely went out to injure him.
It is different to say the assaults by Roy Keane or Ben Thatcher where they actually sent out to injure the player. If the FA single out McManaman then they will have to ban everybody else who makes a bad tackle so quite clearly it is not going to happen.
So your saying that Shawcross and Martin Taylor shouldn't of been banned to then , the F.A couldn't prove that they intended to injure Ramsey or Eduardo therefore they shouldn't of been banned.
"So your saying that Shawcross and Martin Taylor shouldn't of been banned to then"
They did get banned.
Speaking of martin taylors challenge on eduardo, i've seen loads of challenges much much worse than that where the fouled player has got up without a scratch, eduardo was very unfortunate to suffer the injury he did, valencia suffered much the same injury with even less of a challenge, never heard fergie asking for the rangers player to be banned from football.
That's because the Rangers player didn't foul him whereas Taylor did. Don't be so fúcking stupid.
The challenge Eduardo suffered was shocking, one of the worst tackles I've ever seen. It was nothing like Valencia's one, that was just plain unlucky - it wasn't even a bad challenge.
Did taylor mean to snap his ankle? Don't be so f ucking stupid.
