Nice to see people of different backgrounds.

I'm of Bengali background myself. There is an interesting thing I remember my old man saying and it was "Does football give you money?" This was when me and my brothers were mad about watching it, playing it, pretty much living it. We did say that if we play professionally we could make money from it but he didn't care. Also, the fact all my brothers and I supported United made him an ABU, just to take pleasure when United lost and we felt down....

Dads ey. My mum was the same with me, everything I did was to do about football until about 14. Then I slowly became more academic.

No doubt that I will encourage my kids (when I have some) to play a lot of sports, especially football though. Would love to go and watch their Sunday league games when I am older. I think the new generation Asians will be more interested in football and maybe take it more serious.

I like how you've put this on the Bradford board

But anyway, yeah, a lot of people have said it, it's down to how the kids are raised. Most Asian parents just don't know enough about football to trust their kids to become successful in it. Far less risky to go down the academic route.

Also, diet. You may laugh, but most kids are raised on a diet of curry and flour. The so called 'rabbit food' is almost non-existent. It's only when they hit their teens and learn more about diet that they pay attention to it.

*But even then it's quite hard to drop the diet you've been raised on. I remember some guy was moaning at me that he'd been going to the gym for a while and hadn't really noticed anything. Whilst eating curry and naan

spain have won everything with small, technical players...

so i dont know lack of size has to do with being good at footy

although i do know, outside the top 2 tiers of english football, its all about speed and strength as technique is almost absent

There have been a few fairly decent keepers that weren't exactly massive. Wasn't Chelsea's keeper before Cech quite small?

thats 2 positions then on the pitch that rule out short players at a high level

there's nowhere else on the pitch that being short would exclude you from a top flight career if you're good enough ability wise
