Crazy Taxi and Shenmue
How the hell did I leave those off? Shame on me.
Gimmicky DVD player?
I had the Dreamcast, it was alright, but it was the Pro Evo games, Gran Turismo games and GTA's that kept me interested in my PS2 a lot more than the Dreamcast.
San Andreas and Pro Evo 5 or 4?? one of those are still one of my favorite games ever, which I wasted the majority of my college life on. Oh yeah GT4 as well!
In the end Dreamcast was just a little toy that I moved on to my sisters.
sony outsmarted them - tough luck but that's business
it's a shame though as sony made far better systems than nintendo. Nintendo are a disgrace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have Nintendo even made an effort to develop a new franchise of characters? Was Yoshi the last character the created that was successful?
i guess you'll have to play super smash brother 103 to find out
oops i meant sega made b etter systems than nintendo. we all know sony builds the best systems. Sony should be knighted for their awesomeness
Dreamcast
I was very young when I had it but still loved it.
Nintendo don't make effort full stop they just rely on their 15th mario kart and 99th super mario bros game to bail them out every time
I think it's safe to say now that the 360 is a better system than ps3 as far as programmers are concerned. Games constantly get pushed out at a better quality on the 360 when they are on both systems. Apparently it is just much easier to work with than Sony's is. Despite the ps3 being more powerful and having higher storage capacity.
Although it took a while before the 360 was stable. Dumb red ring of death
Have to agree RtM and that is why the Wii U is pretty much dead in the water - this time round the PS4 and NextBoxs are just optimised PCs in a can, meaning dev of the 3 systems will be much less than before - the Wii U is only really on par with the 360 and PS3 meaning games will get there 6 months after or not work at all, unless the new Mario/Metroid/Zeldas are must haves this could potentially be the end of Ninty making home consoles.
"unless the new Mario/Metroid/Zeldas are must haves"
TBF this happens quite often. Though to bring your next gen console out and have it at the strength (debatable) of the present gen systems is mind boggling. I like having variety in systems which is why I was so sad Sega dropped out. I hope Nintendo can pull their finger out....although I wont be getting the Wii U.
The downfall of Sega began with the creation of the 32x add-on. Possibly even Sega CD. The Saturn, although great IMO, never really had the software to back up a new system. Dreamcast's weak numbers due to the massive popularity of the Playstation and then the PS2 were the final nails in the coffin.
Sega consoles RIP <dove>
Well this could be the start of the end for Ninty then - almost 0 3rd party backing for the Wii U, or if it is it seems to be director cuts of the ps3/360 version
Not to worry they're releasing a new Pokemon game which will claw them out of debt
Was it the Dreamcast or the Sega Saturn that got Sega bust?
Well the Saturn didnt help - but it started with loads of dev in the 32X and Mega CD. Then Sega forgot to get any 3rd parties on board for the Saturn, and by the time they sorted it for the Dreamcast it was too late and Sony had tied up the better 3rd parties, and M$ was grabbing all the new IPs.
Come on guys it is not all about graphics.
I can still lose hours of my life playing FM2013 or Pokemon emulator game on my phone.
That's why I rate the original GameBoy as one of the greatest gaming devices ever. I destroyed that thing!
? When was this about graphics?
Never had it, though I have been told time and time again just how good it was. I was content with my playstations and pc games. I played a couple of games on it around friends houses and it was fun
I think he was referring to the point that Wii U is only on a par with current generation consoles
Oh, right. I guess thats a good point but you can still put out a system capable of competing power wise and produce games that dont fully push the limits. Handheld is a different beast altogether. They in no way can compete with the sheer volume of content in console based games. They arent meant solely for on the go entertainment.
