Rangers fans racially abused Maurice Edu

It is convenient for the media, police, opposition fans, Celtic fans and Celtic Football club themselves to blame anything that goes wrong at Celtic on the Green Brigade. Instead of taking each case in isolation it is easier for everyone to blame them and understandably they've had enough of being targetted by Police to boost their numbers and make it look as if they're doing something.

People are dragged up at work, taken out of games and are visited at home to be taken to court and near enough every time there are no charges brought against them.

I think that is of more concern than what team they support, well I think society is more important than football.

Look you are all missing the point. This isnt about scoring points about who's fans are more racist than others. I am well aware there are idiots on both sides. I am just stating that I have never had a problem with my fellow fans going to Celtic matches but judging by some of the comments on here by bears who think Mr Green said nothing wrong......I would have a problem going to Rangers matches!

Henke - the gb do themselves no favours!

Example - March to Parkhead on the roads

Did they get permission for roads to be closed to allow march to go ahead? Answer NO!

Did they adhere to police advice that they could indeed march en masse to Parkhead but for their own safety and to limit the inconvenience of others they would have to ......wait for it...... this is how crazy the police are........march on the pavements?

Answer - NO!!

I do not see where the issue is! They are a bunch of self important numpties who consider themselves bigger than your club and beyond reproach!

As for where the police get them the issue here is with the PF not the police! The pf decides to start the case then drops it, the police are merely delivering the people to the court. And if they cant get them at home, at work or indeed at the game where the feck do you expect the police to get them from?

why is the word Pak i an insult?

do you know its etymology?

Pakistan was named after the initials of 4 of the states that make it up, P.A.K and the urdu word for land , stan, later it was changed to mean the Land of the pure people.

It really should'nt be an insult.

Two points to be made here:

Firstly, a guy in Greens position should not be using the word p a k i by any means. As for the question of anyone being able to use that word in a non-offensive way, the same thing applies to other words (the N word for example) and there is a mass debate to be had there which I am not getting into.

Secondly, I am very disappointed to see a Celtic fan take the reaction of some Rangers fans to this story and say " it says a lot about your club and its fans" while at the same time trying to make out that this would not be the case had it been Celtic and the Celtic chairman saying these things.

Thats to me reeks of point scoring and using a subject like this to score points and make sweeping generalisations about Rangers Football club and its fans is very offensive to me.

The words tarred with the same brush come to mind, and I think someone who has suffered from the generalisations that people make about certain people because of the colour of their skin, country of bitrth or whatever should understand that any sort of generalisation like this is wrong and totally out of order.

Its possible to be a Rangers fan and not a racist bigot mate, so choose your words a bit better next time will ye!!

Dos are you really that stupid?

Smid, good comment. For me to bracket all Rangers fans as racist would be wrong and if I have I apologise. I was just upset yesterday not only with Mr Greens comments but some of your fellow fans who could see no wrong with what he said. I understand that just like managers who defend their players, fans do the same with their club. But there has to be a point where you say enough is enough. You are at that point and rightly condemn what he has said but sadly some others on here choose not to and instead deflect it onto other matters.

Ally.

My point is that if someone did something sectarian in the Jock Stein stand it may not get picked up on, but the Green Brigade are under examination constantly.

I refuse to believe that the idiots in my clubs support happen to all conveniently sit in the same area of the stadium. That would be foolish to suggest for any club.

Were the Green Brigade a bigger issue before Salmond's legislation than they are now?

No. And that's not because of a rise in crime, but merely the way we Police football has changed to the extent that the problem has been exacerbated.

It is however a derogatory term to described someone of South Asian ethnicity. It isnt exclusive to a persons nationality.

Mr Green is representing rangers every time he conducts an interview. Im fairly certain the vast majority of shareholders and fans will have been embarrassed by these latest comments.

Dos, you really are an idiot mate! Mr Green would be proud of you

What about the Celtic fans who said they didn't see anything wrong with what Green said? How does that fit with the bracketing of supports in the OP?

For the avoidance of doubt what he said was wrong and stupid.

TellmeMa

that went right over your head didnt it?

point is the word itself shouldnt be offensive, did you even know what it meant?

"""Personally I found Green's comments completely distasteful and inappropriate, and whilst not personally offended I can see how they would be offensive to many. In short they were not acceptable for someone associated with Rangers and I dont want people to think this is an accurate reflection of the club."

Agree with this statement.

Although the term isn't offensive to myself personally, we've all been subjected to terms from others which might seem an off the comment to them, it's offensive to ourselves. I.e, Jock, Scot, Brit, English etc.

Green is in the wrong here, he has to apologise or get the hell out my club.

Henke - the GB has grown in size, people have been displaced to accomodate them. Their notoreity has earned them the focus of the police, hindsight is wonderful Lennon and Lawwell now distance themselves whilst the GB insist Lawwell said it was ok to refer to the Gers as H-uns!

The Green Brigade are full of self importance so before Salmond they had no issue but to create atmosphere, now they complain because their "illegal" march was prevented and their obstruction of public highways was denied!

Oh and of course who can forget the whsipering campaign of th boys in blue

Dont worry about it mate racial insults are used by ignorant people with very low inteligence levels who hate for no apparent reason. It says more about his own character then actually offending the people he is talking about

posted on 8/4/13

The fact that some of you on here see nothing wrong with what he said says a lot about your club and its fans.

---------------------

From the OP, to a fan who condemns what was said what does that say about my club and it's support? How does those who fail to condemn somehow represent a whole club and it's fans?

What were you seeking to mean with that point in your OP if it wasn't to point score?

Craig fair play mate. Some of the bears attempting to make a laugh out of Greens comments, merely embarrassed themselves As for all the whitabouthery, it's bull. CG was 100% wrong to say what he did. End of.

Blue, once again I already apologized for bracketing your whole club.

I give up guys. Its 75 degrees and sunshine over here right now so im going out for a run. I made my opinion well known and thank those of you who understand my position. And for the rest of you who think being called a jock is just the same as being called a p aki then all the best to you. I hope you teach your children better. Have a good one guys.
