Jordan Spence back ?

FFS I really hope this is true. Why would WHU lend a decent member of their squad out to a rival NPC club though?
Probably BS.

Firstly they probably don't see us as a likely rival.

Secondly I would not be surprised if Big Sam wants a more experienced right back in the short term and has adequate cover. Of course if they need/want him later in the season they could recall him.

Finally, West Ham may be a big club but they need to cut costs now they are in the Championship and like us have high earners unable to shift. So we pick up his wages and pay them a sizeable loan fee and everybodys happy.

'Back in Bristol' has been tweeted by Jordan Spence so looking good. West Ham fans hoping its part of a bigger deal with Nicky. Hope not !

All over twitter, spence has said it himself. As for it being part of a deal for Nicky it wont if their loaning him to us. Exactly the sort of news we were looking for!

True, but on the other hand I would've thought a player through the academy who's championship-proven would be a perfect candidate for a first team birth. Cheap, and a good chance to blood him in!

But hey hey, their ulterior motives are our ultimate gains!

Fantastic! I hope this is true! Exactly what we need.

Poor old Adam, shutting stable doors and horses come to mind. It seems Jordan has now removed his last tweet (no doubt on instruction from BCFC) as it has to be done in the correct manner.

Will be very very surprised if there is no pic of Jordan holding up the vacant number 2 shirt on the OS tomorrow.

This is great news Jordan Spence was a great asset to our defence whilst on loan to us last season and we looked good defensivley against WestBrom Sat. Got to hand it to Keith Millen & Steve Wigley they have so far made some great signings without paying the earth for them. I still reckon Joe Edwards would also be a great addition to our defence aswell and hope we see him start more games than last season...

i told u keith had an ace up his sleeve

Stick him in the middle alongside Tanga, with Cisse in front of him. That will give us a more solid look.
I'd play Louis at RB, and if McCallister isnt fit, Fonts at LB. He did ok there pre.
Other preferences KilK & Reid for midfield, AA, NM & JS in a 4-3-3. Bring Pits on 2nd half & Marv if needed.

Suddenly the day seems brighter.....

Don't think Spence is strong enough to play CB unless he plays alongside a Shaun Taylor type. We don't have that and can't believe he'll start with Nyatanga.
So I reckon Spence,Carey,Fonts and Macca.
I would start Cisse in front of the back 4 but Millen wont.

posted on 3/8/11

Im sure he will start RB, but dont think this means that Carey will tuck in, im sure that it will be Wilson and Fonts/Lewin, taking up the other CB/LB if Macca isnt fit.
May not see alot of Louis if these guys stay fit.

millens said he is our RB and im glad tbh as i think we only need a LB along the same lines as spence, Tall, Fast and Young

my team for ipswich is

---------------------D.James
J.Spence J.Wilson L.Nyatanga L.Fontaine
---------------------K.Cisse
------------M.Elliott----------N.Kilkenny
A.Adomah------------------------------Y.Bolasie
---------------------N.Maynard

but i got a bad feeling it will look like

james
spence carey nyatanga mcallister
adomah skuse elliott J-C-R
maynard stead

and to me ^ that team wont win and aint good enough but thats my opinion

i think we need to start playing wilson now he coped amazing against west brom same as hull and derby at the end of last season, macca's injured so i would play either fonts or lewin there and have the other at cb

cisse infront the defence to protect and brake down the play before it get to close

elliott can run from box to box all game as hes good at it kilkenny can spray the passes along to the wingers or maynard albert and yala let them do there bit and maynard well give him the ball and he will score

I agree with your formation there shinny apart from id start pitman upfront with maynard and i prefer young Bobby Reid over Wilson from what ive seen of them both so far pre season. Wilson doesnt seem to be confident as much as Bobby Reid and passes short balls bk to goalkeepers that have to come right out to clear and that puts the net wide open...

millen already said that fonts is starting i think carey will be on bench
--------------------james
spence ---wilson---fonts-mccalister
albert--- elliot (c) ---kilkenny - woolford (unfort)
---------------- maynard---stead
bench - carey, carey ,pits -bolasie,cisse

Now it's official : Millen will start with,
James.
Spence,Carey ,Fonts and Macca.
Millen will also play Stead with Maynard up front and if he has half a brain he'll play Cisse guarding the back 4.
My guess - he'll pick Skuse instead (not saying Skuse is a bad player but we need Cisse in that role in front the back 4).
Albert,Marv and NK will make up the 11.

posted on 3/8/11

I thought Skuse looked to be in great form against West Brom.

I imagine that he is probably ahead of Cisse in Millens plans.

posted on 3/8/11

Think you about got it right Redprint. I did like Cisse in that role last season although he appears to be out of favour at the moment.

Now we have Spence I think Wilson will have to be patient as Milly will probably err towards experience. Bolasie may take a while to adjust and may be just a sub for Albert for the time being, so will probably get a game against Swindon when Alberts away.

Unless anything else pops up the usual suspects of left-side and pacey ball winning CB continue to be the weakspots.

posted on 3/8/11

It's not who's the better player currently.
It's the 'role' Cisse can play.

With a better back 4 I'd agree with any of Skuse,Woolford,J-C-R, or Bolasie to make up the midfield with Marv, NK and Adomah.
BUT we don't have a decent back 4.
