I dont believe there should be a silence, as there are too many differing opinions on the woman and all it would do is turn into a farce.
RED - difference is mine is based on facts. But then don't let the facts stand in the way of a biased opinion. Anyway what a way to get out of a debate!
Her role in this is very well documented.
Red,do ya see how divisive the woman was,and ex thatcherite richard traceys comments about united being disrespectful on monday, making out she saved the english game, when she despised football fans entirely.
My view is respect other people's wishes, I won't be having any silence for Thatcher but if people wish to pay respects to her they are entitled to, she divided people's opinions, mainly a north south divide, add someone mentioned to celebrate her death is in poor taste but they are also entitled to their opinions.
I do though think the £10 million to bury her is scandalous, considering tax payers are paying it.

TO BE FAIR it was SYP that covered up the Hillsborough disaster not Thatcher herself.
--------------------------
Really, the government at that time was Definitly involved in the cover up of Hillsborough. Add to the fact that Thatcher was wholly prepared to throw Liverpool and the surrounding area's under the bus and I can see why her death was celebrated! Thatcher did nothing for football and her hatered of football fans was widely known and she try'd to destroy sport in most ways. From trying to stop the British athletes from going to the 80's games to selling of school land!

For a supposed clever lad Fred, your a prat for not knowing or understanding what that women did to working class family's in the northwest!
Glad to see some old style politicians speaking out. Won't be many of them left now. Shame they don't have more clout to have the c.£10m stopped.

Not just gone RAP, but stabbed in the back by her own party to get rid of her!!

Fred is an idiot, he makes that clear regularly.
its just asking for trouble, people of a certain age arent going to be ambivalent towards her, theres a strong feeling of hate or liking towards her, and it could well incite crowd trouble so would probably be best left alone

You talk about cacts!!! Fact is lies where told now neither of us can prove bow much maggie actually knew.
Madejeski's comments where ill timed and unthought full considering that they play us this weekend!
Whether you loved or hated her, no matter what people do now, she won't get to know about it
The only ones that will are her loved ones, frienda and family, who at this point in time will be grieving
Must be great for them to see people popping champagne corks and hearing of the ridiculous facebook campagne to get the witch is dead to number one. They are just doing that to make themselves feel big, afterall, it isn't gonna Hurt the woman herself is it
She's dead. Just let her family and friends grieve and be the bigger person
Oh, No point in a minutes silence at football grounds whatsoever. I can't imagine it will be respected anywhere anyway so it's a pointless and silly idea
As for the funeral costs. Well, again, she was a globally iconic British political figure whether we like it or not so they are hardly just gonna dig a hole in a field and toss her in are they.
She's gone. She did what she felt was best for Britain and some people got stamped on in the process. She also made mistakes too but teenagers popping champagne corks is just ludicrous.

Macca, whilst in principle I agree with everything else you've said, what about the family and friends of 96 football fans who needlessly lost their lives.
