Back to the Netherlands. After that initial loss to Portugal, van Nistelrooy played in sub van Persie to poke a volley past Cech to beat the Czech Republic. Van Nistelrooy reacted to Robben's cross to get us another 1-0 win against Serbia and Montenegro and progress.

Germany in the quarter final. Jansen's cross found Klose to score a bullet header. We nearly got back in it, Robben crossing for Kuyt, who headed back to RVP, who in turn headed against the bar. Kahn closed down another van Persie chance late on and we lost 1-0.

Really want to win something now. Going as Brazil, got past Paraguay in the quarter final. Ronaldo scored the only goal in the first leg, before Juninho's brace made it 3-0 on aggregate.

Colombia in the semi final. Ronaldo scored twice in the first leg, pouncing after they twice failed to clear. In the away leg, Cicinho scored a diving header from Juninho's corner and Robinho made it 4-0 on aggregate.

Argentina in the final, obviously. Last time I played this as the Argies, Brazil won. Ronaldinho nearly got us a perfect start as he curled a shot against the post. It didn't take long for his next chance as Kaka drilled in a cross and Ronny swept it home. In the second half Kaka created another easy chance and Juninho tucked it away. Aimar quickly weaved between three defenders and made it 2-1 but we'd done enough to get the win.

Going for another Euros as France. Portugal in the first game and Silvestre's cross forced Ricardo into an own goal. Zidane beat Deco with a roulette, held him off and smacked a shot in to double our lead. Boumsong's header found its way into his own net to get them back in it. After the break, Gallas' mistimed challenge resulted in a penalty, but Barthez saved from Simao, who also put the rebound over. 2-1 win

Sweden in the second game. Larsson missed a chance to put them in front, Mellberg nearly cut out Henry's pass but it found Zidane to score. Sub Gallas broke away and found fellow sub Trezeguet to finish it.

Our place in the next round already sealed, Skoubo's header toom a knick off Thuram to put Denmark ahead. Zidane's corner was emphatically headed in by Trezeguet. Malouda hit the bar in the first half, but made no mistake when he fired in from Dhorasoo's second half corner. Skoubo had the final say, unleashing a rocket of a volley over Barthez's head to get them a point. Still go through as group winners.

We beat the Czechs in the quarter final. Henry gives us the lead, and nearly doubles it on two occasions, but Cech and the post deny him. Baros draws them level as he accidentally flicks the ball in with his heel (thin Delph vs. Chelsea, but just because he wasn't prepared to take the shot ). Henry is the danger man again though, his shot hits the post and Zidane turns it in from a yard.

Netherlands in the semi final. Van der Sar keeps out Wiltord's effort and Vieira can't quite help the ball in from a corner. Van Nistelrooy is the bane of my life as ever and he finds the net to put them in front. Henry nearly makes the difference off the bench but it isn't to be and we go out

Doing Euros with England. The group was the most 2006 England thing ever.

Crouch sidefooted a late winner against Russia. Either side could've won an entertaining 0-0 with Croatia. Norway needed a win to qualify ahead of us in the final game, but Lampard's shot off the bar was turned into Lundekman's own net, before Rooney made it 2-0 on the break.

Netherlands and Portugal already out in the group of death and Ukraine edged out Italy on goals scored. Could win this.

We're drawn against the Czech Republic in the second round. Cech is the busier keeper in a goalless first half. After the break, a corner is headed half clear, it bounces up to Gary Neville and he connects with a decent volley, across goal and into the unguarded bottom left corner. Robinson saves from Koller and Nedved to preserve our lead and Lokvenc heads over with the final chance of the game.

France in the semi final, and they have us pinned back for much of the first half. Carrick finds himself in space but blazes a rare opportunity over. We get one more chance before half time and Beckham plays it forward to Rooney who calmly sends the ball past Landreau for 1-0. Govou and Dhorasoo come close but can't quite find the target for France and we time waste the last few minutes in the corner to reach the final.

Some consolation for France as they beat Sweden for third place. We face Spain who won their match 4-3.

Casillas is called into action early to save from Lampard and close down Rooney. The latter also hits a shot off the bar. Robinson keeps out Garcia's chance; goalless at the break.

In the second half Beckham's corner falls at the feet of Gerrard, who takes a touch and lashes a shot in off the post. Robinson saves from Villa and we see out the win
