Not true I think, plenty of players with release clauses i.e. Ba and Diame.

Pretty sure if Bale had a release clause it would be either public long before now, or it would a contractually kept 'secret'

I am also confused as to why they would only activate it if we failed to qualify. If we failed to qualify then surely they would think the player could force a move and pay less for him, whereas if we get champs he would be happier to stay and therefore they would need to activate it, if it exists. Yet another illogical load of crap from sky sports and probably best ignored

Chronic - I assume the clause would only be activated if we fail to get CL football. Bale not wanting to spend another year out of it, and a definite option for him to leave if we fail to. If we qualify, happy days.

Put a clause in saying he can leave for 50 mill IF we qualify for champs league. Better for the club. That way we are not rewarding failure

To our knowledge, no Spurs player of recent times has had such a clause. It is superceded by the Levy tax.
