Huddlestone .. First choice over Parker?

If they're fit, for the run in, I'd like our front six to be:
Defoe
Bale
Siggy Hudd Moussa Lennon

played in a 4-4-1-1.

If we go 4-3-3, the front six should be as it was on Sunday, possibly switching Dempsey for Lennon.

thought he looked good when he came on on sunday for you, not seen much of him other than that though...

Oh, and if Lennon is not available, Bale should absolutely be on one of the wings.

Not yet, still stick with Parker starting but ease Hudd in, give him 20/30 mins in games, ideally I'd like to see

Hudd, Holtby, Dembele

Mixture of vision, tenacity and power/drive

SteSpurs

As i said yesterday on a similar article, i dont believe Huds is a starter, but when he comes on late those spaces are far easier for him to find from 30 yards. I'd stick with the steel in midfield rather than luxury.

than watch Scott Parker run round in circles like a dog looking for a warm place to lie down!!

Hudd is a must.

The difference when he came on for Parker was SO noticeable.

However, the effectiveness was also helped by the presence of Defoe and Holtby. The latter hunts the ball down in midfield, compensating for the less aggressive pressing of Hudd, who can sit deep and play the ball short or long from there.

Defoe gives a long ball option as his movement stretches defences, gives an option down the channels, creates more space in midfield. One of Hudds first touches after JD came on was to get it CM, look up and immediately ping a ball through to Defoe (40 yard pass) having their defence on the back foot & turned around. Parker simply lacks that vision and Ade simply does not offer that movement or pace in behind/down channels.

Players like Defoe and Adebayor are poorer for not having the passing of the likes of Huddlestone.

I love Hudd. I want him to start but the whole set up has to be right and for me that means no Parker and no Ade. 433 was great but will not be right for every opposition....teams with width will run down the side. City had no width.

ps....Hudds ball to Bale was perfectly timed and weighted and played with his left foot

At the moment, neither for the starting XI.
Hopeful that continuing as he is, and a nice summer break, that the Hudd of old will return for next season.

Parker OTOH looks to be moving down the list.
With no Modric to compensate for his slowness in a CM combo, it will be difficult to justify him as a starting XI player when Sandro returns.

Gotta play with Bale left and Lennon right if Hudd is on

Big Tom now for the run in.

Bring on Scotty for the last 10 or 15 mins if we are winning.

Brother Thudd.
Lennon didnt play Sunday?!

I agree with DevonShire.. Defoe and Ade benefit from someone like Thudd but pinging the ball to either Bale or Dembele or even Dempsey with Defoe prowling the Penalty box would get us so many more goals IMO.

Go back to sleep Siggy

Dembele/Holtby warrants a start IMHO.
Need to see if the kid can do from the beginning what he did in the last 20.

Ste

Yeah I know bud, I mean if Hudd starts you have to have wide players who are used to playing there

I am a little disappointed Tom feels he has to leave. I think Parker could be going which would leave room for him to play a lot more next season.

Even if Parker does'nt leave I really think AVB should play 4-3-3. lets face it we have no real No.10 so no point playing 4-2-3-1. I'd rather make the most of our resources which is an abundance of centre mids. Sandro, Thudd, Dembele, Carroll, Parker, Livermore (?). 3 man midfield means one can have an off day whilst the other two compensate. so it creates consistency of team performance in my opinion.

Pictures of Thudd with ice packed on his knee after the game on Sunday don't fill me with hope

Besides, isn't he more a Dembele replacement than Scotty?

We need Sandro

posted on 23/4/13

I dont think he actually wants to leave.. he's just putting down a marker to AVB.. He played well, he caused problems.. now he wants to be seriously considered or he's gone. Fair play to him!!

Dembele isnt that defensive Bales.. He loves getting forward.. Scotty is more of a hamster on a wheel... I think he's ran around the centre circle far to many times.. shame he wasnt an athlete.. he'd be great at the relay!!

Depends on how AVB wants to line up?

Against teams like Stoke and Wigan I'd say Tommy would be ideal

For Sunderland and Chelsea, Parker

But agree Bales... we need Sandro big time.
Nice thing in the summer will be Damiao arriving.!!!

Hudd has every right to make such noises.
It comes down to whether he is demanding to be in the starting XI for every game when fully fit etc.
