Giroud will give you consistent 5 out of 10 performances with the odd shocker. Whereas Adebayor with give you consistent 1 out of 10 performances with the odd blinder.

I'd rather have Giroud because Ade is a lazy, frustrating donkey.

So many sad comments on this thread, stalking peoples past comments and articles.

Mostly from Fab, which doesn't surprise me at all.

Assuming we didn't have previous with Adebayor, I still wouldn't want him near the club, at least Giroud puts in some effort on the pitch and seems to give a fack about his team-mates and fans, and not just picking up a cheque, not to mention the fact that his goals to games ratio is actually far worse than Giroud's this season.

I actually cannot believe some of the idiocy on here sometimes.

"Giroud will give you consistent 5 out of 10 performances with the odd shocker."

That is a joke, surely

His performances have warranted 4/10 at BEST over the last 3 months with the exception of his 6/10 vs Reading.

Also I'd like Jovetic AND Benteke.

A pure striker who's proven in the PL and a skillful forward in Jovetic who can play in any position in the front 3, both creating and scoring goals.

and with that I'm out.

Benteke is only 22 years old. In 37 appearances, he has 22 goals for a very inexperienced Villa side who lack any real quality or depth in their squad. That is quite remarkable in my opinion.

I do think Benteke is better than Giroud, though. He's quicker, better in the air and a better finisher.

However, for the reasons Dubbed & Jenius rightly pointed out, Jovetic will be better suited to us than Benteke so we should definitely opt for the former. Not that we'd have a chance of getting the latter anyway, as Villa will demand a fortune for him.

Giroud has had a poor first season and nobody can deny this.

Beneteke is all pace and power.

So was Drogba, if the team around the strikers good enough their build up shouldn't need to go through him. We don't need a false 9 we need someone who's going to score goals, don't you want Walcott up front anymore?

I'm sorry guys, but reading some of these comments, people are talking like Benteke is some sort of pub player who has been flavour of the month.

He has carried Villa for most of the season. 22 goals in a debut season is fantastic, especially considering the inexperience he's had to play with and the lack of quality supplying him. When it's mattered, he has been the one to step up to the plate. When things looked tough, he was the turning point. Benteke has scored and looked lively in high pressure games when there has been a lot at stake. He is a big game player. Can the same be said for Giroud?

People cry for good strikers but totally forget about creativity in the midfield..

Benteke's not Drogba. Every tall, reasonably quick and powerful striker is not him.

Ba walks by:
"Didieeer!"

Lukaku walks by:
"Didieeer!"

Kenwyne Jones walks by:
"Didieeer!"

Benteke is a lot better than people give him credit for.

Some people talk like he's on par technically with Carroll.

I prefer Lukaku personally. Both good young strikers. Belgium have some great talent.

----------------------------------

Drogba's touch was awful when he first came to this country. But to his credit Drogba changed his game completely. And Chelsea created a diamond formation to play to his and Lampard's strengths coming from deep. But Chelsea and Mourinho played very functional football. Not the high possession, fluid game that we play.

We don't need a false 9 we need someone who's going to score goals, don't you want Walcott up front anymore?
------------------------

I do want Walcott up there as I still believe he is one the best finishers in the premier league. Walcott takes a very high percentages of his chances, a lot like Henry. But he lacks the physical strength to lead the line.

What I want more than anyone is someone who mimics what Bergkamp gave us. People always associate Henry/Dennis but forget that Bergkamp was actually more successful with Wright, a small, fast striker who could finish!

Jovetic can come deep and also lead the line. I am not pining for Joevtic. What I do want is a player who can replicate Bergkamp.

Ffs there was the same hype around Demba Ba a few months ago, people were going on about him like he was a world beater. Look how that's turned out. He's been bang average for Chelsea.

I'm not saying Benteke is the same, he's a good player and easily better than Ba imo, but people are going over the top. Atm he's just a good young striker. That's it.

Generally you can't be two people so thats a given.
My point was that dismissing a player as all pace and power is hardly an insult when one of the best strikers in Premiership history was simply put all pace and power.

posted on 30/4/13

Benteke hasn't got pace btw, have you lot been smoking crack?

His pace is average. Not slow, not fast. Inbetween.

posted on 30/4/13

What you want us to revert back to a 4-4-2 or with a Walcott as an inside forward? I know your not comparing the two but if you want someone to emulate Bergkamp I don't think Jovetic is the one, although I can't think of anyone of the top of my head more suited.

I don't understand this Kamran guy. He likes Benteke and Lukaku. But hates Ba, even though he's easily better than both.

As was stated though, he comes out with random tosh to look unique and insightful.

Agreed.

Potential to be very good in the future but he's hardly going to fix Arsenal's problems.

posted on 30/4/13

Wooo, Dubbed's on his reds again. Ba is clearly not better than Lukaku or Benteke. That's clear to all but a blindman.

"As was stated though, he comes out with random tosh to look unique and insightful."

You've used this line about 50 times now. Nobody has ever laughed. Take the hint?

posted on 30/4/13

Laugh? That wasn't a joke son. Just a stab at the truth.
You don't half come out with tosh don't you?

I mean I don't like certain players. But it has more to do with their playing styles and lack of ability.

You on the other hand develop this strange dislike for guys like Ba, Hernandez even though they're better than what we have, or players like Lukaku and Ba.

posted on 30/4/13

I've already explained about Ba.. he has some medical problems.
