"Sir Douglas of freedman" made me chuckle.
*****
Made me cringe a bit, TBH .... although he's done well in the last 3rd of the season, I can't take to him as an individual - I reckon he has an arrogance to rival Megson, which will become more visible to others if we don't get off to a decent start next season, and fans dare to question him Came here for the money IMO, but in fairness, he's done as well as could be expected with the resources available, so I guess his manner isn't as important as his ability.
But it's gonna be even tougher to win promotion next season .... and he'll be the one in charge, so I hope he really HAS got what it takes, and he gets a bit of money to do it with ....
AS Swie as already stated we would have been promoted if Sir Dougie had arrived earlier,Yes we do need changes in defence thats been a problem all season but we still have some very good players for this league ,And with a little tinkering from Dougie we should be fine ,A pre season working with some of these players ie Mills -Ream -Wheater -Riley-Mears-Vela-Eaves-even the likes of Andrews may improve them. ,players coming in for K.Davies- Alonso-Wylde I think we will be fine.
I think we would have been promoted if we had started the season under a new manager ...full stop..... and under any one of a handful of managers that we could have appointed. Whoever had taken the job, they would have had a fantastic chance this season to clinch promotion. The dithering over when to sack OC definitely cost us .....
The biggest move has already been done...that being, wishing SKD a fond ado. Look how much arguing and debating was done on that subject over the past season. Now the other strikers can get on with it.....whichever combo Doogie chooses.
Zat is a penalty waiting to happen and another year older...but Doog likes him apparently. Ricketts I would keep due to being able to fill in at all positions along the back line.
We would hope that the players brought in are better than the ones who leave. That's 50/50 at best.
Well I think whether we should sell CYL or not depends on the price we could get. Personally I doubt we would get the sort of money I would like so I think he will stay. A serious trim is needed though but with KD going I am happy with our strikeforce. I always have wanted to play a 4-5-1 (4-3-3 when needed) and I think with a fully fit squad we could have a very good side with that. A midfield trio of Medo, Holden and Mavies (Pratley until he is back) sounds great to me, and central midfield is key to the performance of any team. Eagles has proved his worth this year, and depending on whether CYL stays or leaves we could need a new winger.
GK and defence are the big issue for us. With Alonso gone we need a left back. At CB we could do with a couple really, so this is the area I feel we need to use our loans on. I would like a new keeper but Bogdan will suffice considering we have no money for now. So I would like a side something like this:
Bogdan
Ricketts
<Loan>
Wheater
<Loan>
Eagles
Holden
Medo
Pratley (Mavies when fit)
CYL
Ngog (C Davies back up)
So I would say anyone earning a good wage outside of this team, even Sordell (but not for free), could leave. Andrews, Knight, Mills, Wylde should be helped on the way like BSA was so good at. We need to keep our best players though and really have a crack at this league from the off.
HH, if Mark Davies and Chungy were both fit, you still wouldn't realise anywhere near 12 million and at the end of the day we can procrastinate all week long about who is a good player and what they can do but only DF will make those decisions.
We will just have to wait and see. It will be interesting to see who goes and who comes in.
I expect we will see a left back, attacking midfielder, central midfielder, a winger or two.
He may bring a CB in but it depends on his view of our current ones when they are uninjured. He may think he can get more out of them unlike his predecessor. If not I expect one to go and one in. I would not be surprised if it was Knight however Ream is the weakest so it may be him.
Thomas Sorenson is after regular football and even at 36 he may give us a promotion season as first choice.
I expect a couple of Palace lads too. Garavan and or Jedinak if Palace don't go up.
Lots to think of plus I expect a couple more young lads promoted to the first team and hopefully that will work out. Zac Clough has had some good reviews.

I still think we need a proper goal scorer. I know we have scored goals all over the park and Eagles has been the driving force. I am also aware that Cardiff went up in a similar fashion with their top scorer having 9 i think. I am a fan of Craig Davies and Ngog, but they arent going to score a great load each, so i think if we could get someone in to score 15+ goals, we should storm it.
G,G, I agree a Jordan Rhodes type player expensive at 8mil but if your going for prize money of 120 mil its
money well spent, And the type of player you need if you intend to stay in the prem .
When I'm sober I'll write a proper response to this article, but want to ask a quick question. Wasn't Zat Knight signed on a 1 year contract extension last season by Owen? Anyone?
Jordan Rhodes or Charlie Austin? Or maybe we have already hog that man with Eaves?
OC in his wisdom gve him 2 years.
As far as goal scorers go Sordell has to deliver. I would not buy anyone else however if Sordell has not got at least double figures by January he should be chased out of the club.

He may go if DF rates Mills and Ream.
Both ream and mills need to go.I have seen more than enough of ream to tell me he will Never be able to cut it at cb in English football especially the championship. Your holding your breath when a long ball comes down the middle physically he just can't handle it.mills is very poor with the ball a very average player.knight is captain and dougies no 1 choice.wheater I hope is fit as despite his lack of pace and inability to turn the championship is his natural level.
Four centre backs is enough in any squad, so if one is coming in at least one will have to go. Seems Knight is in favour so I reckon Ream will leave. Mills will get longer to prove himself and Wheater when fully fit would probably be first choice out of the current lot. A ball playing centre back will have to be bought or, more likely, loaned. If only it was that easy in real life - just pop along to football Tesco and pick up a ball playing centre back plus double clubcard points if you get him before the end of June.
Benny:
With Mark Davies this year:
7 W, 8 D, 7 L
22 Starts - 29 Points
Without Mark Davies this year:
11 W, 5 D, 7 L
24 Games - 38 Points
It's not as if we have missed him! We've performed better without him...
====================
It's so misleading to present stats like this without pointing out that Mark Davies played the majority of his games this season under a manager who had lost the plot, and then the remaining games mostly under a new manager who was still finding his feet.
Can anybody reading this can tell me they honestly think we were better off with Darren Pratley on Saturday?
HH, i would argue that our record in the 'without Mark Davies' games from your stats, would have been stronger if he had been fit.
He's the lynchpin of the team.
Wondering what they will do with the players who have one year left on their contracts. knight, mears, ricketts, wheater, ngog, eagles expire at the end of next season.will Bolton sell now, offer new contracts or let their contracts run down like Alonso.maybe eagles will fly the nest.
Stats like that are useless because you miss so many other mitigating factors plus football is a team game. It was done to discredit SKD unnecessarily and too often.
Still gutted about this season although it was doomed from the start with OC and his team making us not just unfit but too far away from being prepared for this league!
We were so unready its laughable to look back at some results and performances at the start of the season:
Can we come back,I hope so but I doubt it,mark my words this wont end pretty!_
We would have gone down with the wolves if could had kept his job all season.he was sacked far too late.freedman has worked a miracle to get us so close to the playoffs and probably would have got us there.. but for two strange selections.Butterfield at Leicester and hall v blackpool.that has been my bugbear with freedman all season his strange team selections.I'm still baffled by the team he picked at Brighton.
Stupid tablet made up could for coyle-give me strength.
