Remember listening to that game on 5 live; it was the day we were on Football Focus because there were hardly any other games.
Crowd's been the same for years so I don't expect it to change this season. I remember some fans singing 'you're not fit to wear the shirt' because we were losing 1-0 to Charlton in the 15th game last year. I think most are just a bit thick..
I'm pretty pessimisitc of our chances but that doesn't mean I'm going to join in with stupid chants like that or getting on the backs of Sedgwick and O'Connor.
I'm looking forward to this season i think we have a team that will win ugly most times out of ten but least it's winning. I'm especially looking forward to prutton & semedo actually controlling our midfield with the ball at their feet
No more aimless long ball!!!

"...or getting on the backs of Sedgwick and O'Connor".
You presume they're both going to be carp before they even kick off?
OK then, I'll go for Owls to win 3-0 Saturday, Sedgewick (2), O'Conner 1 from the bench. Power of positive thinking and all that....
I'll get behind the lads on Saturday from the off, you have to. That doesn't mean blind praise and adulation and refusing to voice your opinion at all. But what it also doesn't mean is getting on their backs after 10 minutes as a good few inevitably will if we are beating 'little old Rochdale' out of sight by then. The mentality of some on here and beyond is such that even if JOC has a decent game and hit the winner on Saturday they would refuse to celebrate, baffling but each to their own I suppose.
UP THE OWLS!!!!
Rich Owl
No, just they are 2 players who seem to get stick from the get-go.
Not a fan of O'Connor but don't think he's as bad as some make out and maybe Sedgwick can have a good season; he has played a lot of his career at a higher level, after all.
Tautological,
Sorry - my reply was slightly tongue in cheek. I just get the feeling that some players, and as you say these two in particular, seem to get the attention of the boo-boys from the off, sometimes before they've kicked a ball. certainly if their 1st pass is misplaced they get hammered for the next 89 minutes. I agree that O'Connor is nothing special but he generally looks like he's making an effort when he plays, which is more than can be said for some,....
Owlstom - I'm all for voicing an opinion - after all you've paid your money, but I just can't see how booing your own players from 5 minutes in helps. Perhaps on Saturday when the bloke behind starts having a go somebody should suggest that it would be cheaper for him and better for everyone that, if his sole purpose for turning up was to boo at the first sign of a poor pass, then his Saturday should be spent shouting at the radio instead......
Rich, I agree mate and that's exactly what I was aiming at. In some ways I'm gutted that Saturday will be my last game for 6 months, but in others I'm almost grateful.
I have stuck up for JOC on here, not because I believe he's a quality player, he isn't. But nor is he the satanic being that many on here and at the games believe. He isn't much cop most of the time, but what really annoys me is that when he does put a shift in, which bizarrely enough, is what people are asking for in the first place, it's still not good enough.
I'll let out moans of frustration on Saturday, it would be folly to pretend otherwise, but I won't begin barracking them from 3 o'clock as sadly some will.
3-1 to us, and I couldn't give a monkey's who scored for us.
UP THE OWLS!!!!
JOC could get a hat-trick (highly unlikely, I admit) and he would still get criticised.
There is always one player at a club, and Sedgwick won't be far behind him.
Although IMO, Sedgwick (along with Prutton) has been the stand out player of pre-season and I am looking forward to seeing how he does on Saturday.
O'Connor came close to scoring a hat trick in the JPT against Notts County, that'd have been something.
Just pop over to Owlstalk & read the Gary Madine Facebook thread.
Seriously, we have some of the most brainless fans in the country!
Monster, not that I claim to be any kind of world renowned alumni But on the, probably two or three times I've dared to pop over to Owlstalk and see what it's like I've been nothing short of amazed that some of the people on there haven't tried to scribe their opinions on their computer screens in crayon. Buffoons I tell you!
Up the owls!!!!
The only surprise is that anybody is surprised! I'll make a little prediction at this point; if we are at 0-0 after 10 minutes and a couple of passes go astray the booing will start.
Tom, if a player is skillful but doesn't run all over the pitch then he accused of being lazy and if a player runs all over the pitch but isn't incredibly skillful he's accused of being a headless chicken. I just wonder where MM & Meggy are going to sign all these brilliant players who are also running all over the pitch for 95 minutes?
I'm sorry to have to break this to you guys but if last season is anything to go by visiting teams will come to Hillsborough to park the bus in front of goal and get the fans frustrated. The fans then start booing our lads get nervous and work out the rest for yourselves.....
Best thing about Gary Madines FB page is that under 'Favourite Athletes' there is only one person and its Gary Madine.
I think he should be renamed Modest Madine
Mike, looks like I couldn't have picked a better season to miss most of then eh mate
Up the owls!!!!
One good thing about having Megson as manager is that he understands the Hillsborough crowd whereas Irvine was always on the backfoot. Hopefully, Megson will get them playing in a simple way that minimises mistakes. What a lot of people forget was that that great Big Jack team of legend played very simple hoofball 4-4-2 and that is perfectly OK if you get the results....

Spot on Mike With our lack of fire power due to inability to bring in new players in this area, I can't see us winning any games by more than the odd goal which could well take ages to get.
I have a sneaky feeling we'll get Roberts once the match against Rochdale is out of the way!
Roberts would be good.
(warming to the subject) I think we should be thinking of Meggy as the Ginger Sgt. Wilko rather than the Ginger Mourinho.

That's exactly what Phil Brown was talking about in the OP, and it's not the first time we've heard that from an 'outsider'. So if we KNOW that opposition sides will do that, they why do we give them the ammunition?
Because we're impatient, unrealistic, miserable gets!

We are well and truly f-d without forwards.
We'll be fine then, we have 2!
Personally, I'm more worried about the lack of wingers, especially with the injury to JJ! Madine and Morrison should be ok up front if they can stay fit!
Le Fondre to sign this afternoon, btw!
According to the mecca that is Owlstalk, at least!
