Sell bale and lose a world class match winner!
Two moments when I realised Bale was world class
Hat Trick against Inter Milan and the Double for Wales against Scotland!
I don't care if its a WUM or not - it's a valid question.
We were discussing this the other week. The way I see it we are short of both strikers and wide midfield players, and have just Ade, Defoe, Bale and Lennon for these positions. We also lack a creative player who can play behind the forward(s)
If losing Bale ENSURED getting in a good LM replacement for him, a strong #9, a good skilful #10 and a good right-forward/striker in the mould of Remy. then I would take the money for him as it would in my opinion strengthen us considerably overall
Shows how much football has changed when selling one of the best players (if not the best) in the league could be considered a good thing by the fans.
With that being said, I do understand that football is about the team, but I think selling Bale can only be a bad thing.
I would not in all honestly.
We have some cash to spend already and next season we, in theory, should have 3 new signings when some players return. Townsend, a pacey winger. Rose, Sunderland's best player and Kaboul, a French international. Not to mention Sandro.
Our squad is not too far away in truth and we maybe need to invest in 2 areas, upfront and maybe a creative player in the middle.
It's a no from me. We currently have one of the best players in world football, this kind of thing doesn't often happen at Spurs!
I think one thing we should be doing is using him as more of a selling point. His reputation is huge, there's global interest in him. We should be using that to ring new fans to Spurs.
People will watch Barca just for Messi, Madrid for Ronaldo etc. Hopefully keeping Bale will see us gaining more 'worldwide' fans.
No from me too.
We either go for it now and invest in a striker and creative mf to play with Bale or we stand still or even slide.
Chelsea fan in peace. Honest! If I were you lot I would never contemplate selling him. Pains me to say it, but squad wise, you're not that far off. And if you sold Bale for £75m, you would still only be bringing in 2 world class replacements with that. And would they be better than Bale? I doubt it.
CFC, do you really think they'd get £75m for Bale?
Consider firstly FFP. Even clubs like Real have to take this into account.
Secondly, compare Ronaldo to Bale, similar abilities perhaps, maybe Ronaldo edges it. However Ronaldo was far more marketable, and playing for a far bigger club that had no reason to sell.
For me, it wouldn't be any more than £60m if that. I would predict approx 50-55.
No mate I don't think he would fetch £75m, but I'm just quoting the figure put earlier in th article. I think he would go for about £50m if offered. I think Levy would be rubbing his hands together.
Sorry but Arsenal have proved that selling your best players dosen't work even if you invest in the squad. Arsenal have got worse each season and although they have finished in the top 4 everytime, they have got closer and closer to finishing out of it each season and this is due to selling their best players ie RVP, Fabregas etc.......Bale should be kept at all costs and i believe Spurs will hold onto Bale for atleast 2 more seasons. We are not in desperate need of money and are very close to really having a superb team, selling Bale will just put us back again and ruin all the good work we have done as a club these past few years.

While it's true of late Don, this actually worked very well for Arsenal previously and helped them win the league and improve the side overall.
They sold Anelka for big dough and got in Henry, Lauren and Sylvinho with cash left over.
They sold Overmars and Petit for big dough and got in Wiltord, Edu and Pires for less.
The problem now is they don't re-invest it all, and Wenger seems loathe to buy the type of midfiled player they actually need.
My proviso for selling Bale is ONLY if we bought quality in the positions I said.
True HRH, but let's be honest here mate......the likes of Anelka etc are not Gareth Bale. Bale is a phenomenon and comes around once in a while. We are lucky to have a player of such class and so would anyteam. Selling Bale is wrong on all levels.
Give us bale, you can have young Valencia and anderson and 20 million

This was the case with Anelka then though too - he was immense then. What i'm saying is that twice they sold their most potent weapons and improved the side overall.
Not to go off on much of a tangent, but the plan was for Anelka (who was incredible at the time, make no mistake about that) to be partnered with Henry. It was just 'unfortunate' circumstance that saw Henry end up being his replacement.
For what it's worth, selling Bale is one thing - you may get £50-60m for him, but then you'd be losing your biggest draw for other top class players to join Spurs.
Nobody is going to join Spurs for the chance to play alongside Adebayor or Dempsey; Bale is your best bet of attracting the class of player you need to reach the next level. Ironically, keeping him could also be the thing that (financially) prevents that.
HRH :
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
The G00ns in recent times have been paddling upstream just to stay still, when it comes to selling their good players.
For where Spurs are, to get players like NEW STRIKER etc we are more or less looking at a merc whose transfer and wage costs will soon bleed off whatever we got for Bale.
I dont' trust us to spend the money we get from Bale wisely. So my answer is no.
