How many jobs has Clough been linked with since he started at Derby?

posted on 8/5/13

none!

Although his agent fixed that story linking him with Forest, even though he's unqualified to do so, to get that new contract.

Another half-truth that's now conveniently peddled as FACT by some.

HE'S NOT 'QUALIFIED' TO BE APPOINTED TO A CLUB AS A PREMIER LEAGUE MANAGER.

OK? Ok.

if our club or NC have ambition to progress to the prem , why has NC not taken his courses to gain his badges.
I just get the feeling some fans and all at DCFC are quite happy to plod along , I could not see any other club employing the likes of Garner, Crosby etc.
Some fans are happy to sit mid table just as long as a Clough is at the helm , even Ferguson would have been hounded out after four years of stagnation.

I have to take issue with the 'four years of stagnation' Robrea. Are you seriosuly trying to tell me we were 'on the up' when Jewell got his taxi, and we've stood still ever since? It doesn't work like that, and I'm surprised that you of all people think it does. this club was plummeting, make no mistake. not only did NC have to arrest the fall, he had to jettison big-earners and try and undo some of the tremendously damaging work done by the two previous incumbents. Can he do better? Yes. Stagnant for four years? I don't see it.

Why should he waste his time for a piece of paper just to 'please' the nay-sayers & harbingers of doom?

Take a look at a list of UEFA Pro Licence holders - 90% of them aren't even feckin managers!

The world today is full of meaningless bits of paper which mean damn all. For instance, as I am semi retired but lead lots of walks in the Peak District I looked at being a volunteer walk leader for Doncaster. In order to do this I would have to attend a one day course on how to walk around Doncaster (hardly the Himalayas). For gods sake, walking involves putting one foot in front of the other. I suspect Nigel having already attended coaching badge courses has a similar view to me on their value.

Fair point Not Spart, I'm sure his dad had the same view. He also puts his family time first, I don't know if his dad did that.

Wow! Still using Billy Davies as an excuse to cover Nigel's ar$e. When's the cut of point mate?

Billy may have wasted a few bob(suppose that's a matter of opinion on certain players), but he left your club in a better financial position than when he arrived.

You know these UEFA B,C,Z licenses or whatever they are...can someone tell me who observes the candidates?...and who says they can have a UEFA coaching badge?....Whoever you say it is....ill bet you Nigel Clough has far more experiance in professional football...domestic and international....than any of the robots that take these courses....FACT!

I don't think managers like Shankley, Brian Clough, Busby, Reavie got their UEFA badges.

Rule is you cannot manage a team in the prem without them

Omar..i know the ruling just saying nobody knows anybody that dishes em out. Could be Abbey Clancey for all we know!

Backo, My comment was aimed at ambergriff. Brian and the others never needed them.

National FAs dish them out. The Welsh FA tend to dish most out to Premier league managers and I know ex-Scotland manager Andy Roxburgh was heavily involved in the make-up of the qualification.

Italy has operated this rule, or a very similar one for nigh on 30 years, preventing David Platt from being proper Sampdoria manager in the 90s.

Just cos Nigel isn't professional and dedicated enough to 'qualify', doesn't mean the course is meaningless and not needed.

I looked long and hard at gaining these qualifications and they encompass many things from budgeting, coaching, physiotherapy, information technology, media handling etc. and more than many things, it gains you contacts.

Suppose vidals 15 years at doctor school was worthless?

I've no objection to Your Nige walking around Doncaster

Sorry, Omar, I briefly got you confused with someone whose opinion I'm interested in

I've been told I can teach classes in the gym I train in "if I get my level 2 qualification", meaning the gym owners judge me experienced and capable enough to take a class, but aren't allowed to, by law/regulation, because I haven't spent £500 to obtain a certificate saying I'm capable of doing it. So to that end, clough not being "qualified" means diddly squat to me. Its always about how he performs in his job, which for me now is that he has done a sterling job plugging the leaks in a fast sinking ship, but that ship is now meandering aimlessly through the ocean, I feel he's took us as far as his skillset can.

It doesn't teach you how to win a game of football though does it Mostyn? It's probably 99% b o ll o cks anyway, like most of the conferences, etc. that companies send their "managers" to, the only ones that benefit are the company selling the conference (and the hotel bar)..................all corporate crap. It used to drive me mad when I was employed, that's why I ended up working for myself.......Rant over.

Seriously when is the cut off point? You cannot continue to keep laying fault at the feet of manager's that have not been involved at your club for a fair number of years.

It shows perfectly that Clough has no ambition, which anyone who's seen his lacklustre and apathetic behaviour in a dugout would appreciate anyway.
