Yes 2002 - 03 Porto League Winners, Cup Winners and Uefa Cup winners their first ever treble.
Jose was the manager, ok my memory might have slipped a little bit with the Super Cup loss but it does not normally desert me completely. in my books that is a treble winning 3 trophies even if 2 of them were in a weaker league

So Jose has won the "double" with us twice more times than Saint Billy

Don't tell me you're also a believer of Arry being a better manager then Capello?
jeez I didn't realise how deep your problems went. I'm backing off as I draw the line at wumming r'etards

Have you seen what Capello has achieved in the game?
But yeah, let's disregard that because he failed with an awful England team.

So you would not have minded him taking over at utd then as he is that good ?

No to be honest I am not a big fan of either
You're not a big fan of intelligence either by the sounds of it
So Jose's treble wins in Italy and Portugal are not impressive because they were won in 'weak leagues' yet Nicholson's double was impressive when it was won in the old first division in 1961.
Wow. This guy has really high standards in terms of what constitutes a class manager.

Mind you there are very few managers I rate completely. SAF obviously he can have no doubters, whingers of course, I dont like him but he is a great manager and Jose. IMO those 3 are miles above the rest.

Yes it was a hell of a lot harder in those days
Grand, whether I want him at United is incedental.
He's clearly a better manager than Moyes but Moyes is a good fit for United, and given Capello's age he wouldn't be.
But yeah, he's not a quality manager after winning all those titles.

I would pit myself against you anytime I decided to be serious
Ron, that's the sort of comment that really lowers the tone.
Grand might not be having the finest of nights, but he's a decent Spurs poster. If you can't address some of the good ones with a little respect there's no hope for us!!

Thanks for the banter. You started badly but just got worse. Credit to you for sticking it out whilst outnumbered.

Thats dependent on a lot of things and you know it. Was Wilkinson a great manager when he was at Leeds ? hardly but he won the league.
It was always harder in the older days. Football gets progressively worse.

No worries
I just fancied rattling a few cages tonight, I dont normally bother as a rule I take my football far to seriously
Capello has won 13 trophies. There's not many in the game that have won more than that. Clearly not a good manager though as he failed with that terrible England side.

It was not necessaily about the football there were a lot of factors.
The pitches were dreadful which will always hamper a football side rather than a poor side. All journeys had to be done by train which obviously made travelling to away games a lot more difficult. There were a lot of factors which is why a lot of fans and managers believed the double to be impossible to win

As the years roll by sport gets more competitive. Olympic records for example. Truth is its tougher today and Spurs today would beat Spurs of 1961 hands down. Stronger , fitter, faster

Give me the barca side of a couple of years ago and I would win 13 trophies
Even if they travelled on the back of a horse n cart and played in Tottenham Marshes
