My commiserations go to Big Duzza who having attended all home games except 2, and travelled to away games such as Colwyn Bay, has missed out on final tickets after queuing for 1 and half hours on Thursday morning (still better than working )! Why it wasn't played at a neutral venue to accommodate more fans I'll never know
Anyway good luck to the Shaymen, I'm told they are better away from home anyway so the bizarre ruling could work in their favour.
Very poor efforts on behalf of the 'North' league organizers for this final.
I'm lead to believe that as late as Monday the tickets hadn't even been printed. ridiculous.
The Shaymen were hoping to have some for sale by Tuesday.
I don't even know the bloke, but commiserations for 'Big Duzza' from me too, that situation is Sheet house.
Someone from the club should do all they can to help this guy out FFS.
Home & away all season & because of a pityfull supply of tickets, he misses out ..he qued up too, It's not like he didn't try.
Come on Aspin (or someone within) get him on the team bus & in as 'assistant kit man'.
A typical reaction, from a 'typical' Yorkshireman this week...
(This is true by the way)
I saw a guy who runs a family Glass supply business on Monday...Wife & eldest son present too..
All come from Halifax.!
I was rubbing my hands together & said, "Right then, How many flight tickets am I booking for a return to watch Town in the final"
Blank looks.
I explained the situation...
His reply -
"Urgh, thy wunt get enough ter fill 'carpark wud thy"
4 forks sake.
Can you imagine say..Blyth Spartans getting through to a final and all the locals being indifferent like that..
The Geordies would all be 'Spartans' for the day..
and want them to win.
And lets be honest, Even Hudds TOWN getting through to a final ..we've all heard locals reacting in a similar manner
To do right, the final should have been played at a venue that could cope with 5 or 6 thousand spectators - preferably mid way.
Get into 'em Shaymen, You can win this one.
I remember when Emley got through the FA Cup rounds proper, and drew Bolton (?) at home...because of demand for tickets they transferred the game to the MacAlpine Stadium...
Bolton players came out to be 'greeted' by 10,000 Emley fans !! They must have thought, what the fork !
Anyone remember the year/details ?
I reckon the final should have been at a neutral ground, maybe a league ground..(Chesterfield ?) .and perhaps then maybe a few Town fans would do what we do...support our local (minor) teams..
Don't forget though, 'Fax are in the West Riding Cup Final on Tuesday night..v Guiseley...Valley Parade...could be party time
i remember it well jacko and attended in the east terrace
17th november 1991 3-0 to bolton
there was a big white flag up in the mill end saying leeds whites wi t bolton logo on
aah leeds road youve set me off now jacko
what i would give to stand on the east terrace again!
the one and only theatre of dreams
good luck to the shaymen they could be a decent league 1 club now with their facilities
anyone know if their will be radio commentary??
good luck to the bantams too!
I've a great feeling about this one, two nil to Newcastle.
Come on you Magpies!
Waltz
I think I read somewhere on the Blue Square web site that there is a character going to give 'live updates' from the ground....twitter I think, but not 100% on that.
Sunday arvo, surely there will be coverage on one of the local radio stations ! Wouldn't there ???
Poor do if there isn't.
Talk of the 'East terrace'
such pleasant nostalgia.
Can anyone tell me why the Kilner Bank doesn't replicate that atmosphere of old ?
(I know 'why'..I'm being facetious )
There's always live updates on the FCHT website, if anyone wants to follow the game.
Two 0-0 scorelines in the league meetings, however after reading "But Brady the manager reckons Brackley are the 'underdogs'", I'm hoping the Shaymen go into the game with a proper belief that they can win this game. The Burton manager made similar statements about playing Bradford in the playoffs, despite finishing 7 pts above Bradford and missing out on the playoffs. That negative attitude worked for the bantams in their playoff tie.
The Shaymen can win this one for sure Ken
v Guiseley it was pretty much a stalemate through out the regular season untill that vital away leg.
They can do it again.
After all those games in quick succession at the seasons end, This week off will have really felt like a good break for the Town players.. I think Aspin will have them well fired up for this one.
Just a shame more of the Skircoat enders couldn't get tickets.
COME ON HALIFAX...............................
Tell you what Fella's !
After all that excitement last night, - Marvelous, that has to be what the FA Cup is all about
I'm ready for some more of THAT.
I have a great feeling about this one What d'ya reckon LV69
