I think it pretty much comes down to whether the player wants to do it. Giggs and Scholes still want to play, Carra has decided not to. I think it's as a simple as that. If Giggs decided to pack it in, he'd pack it in.

He's leaving on his own terms, simple as that. He was getting loads of stick earlier in the season, he showed his usual character and made himself first choice again. I glad he's leaving now, when people will rember his good form...

what he lacked in talent he more than made up for in determination, which sadly means the body takes the brunt of that

The dressing room will be the worse for it, you can't underestimate what players like carra, giggs etc bring.

I think Brendan turned to Carra as a last resort, the team had a total lack of spine and leadership and Carra footed the bill. The price that was paid though was the defence dropped back to the penalty area and teams exploit the gap between midfield and defence.

In order to play Brendan's way Carra needs to be replaced and I think Carra recognises that and has stood aside so fair play to him. Good luck to Brendan in finding a worthy successor, it won't be easy at all.

Interesting comments on SSN today that Rodgers has said he has no intention of selling Skrtel in the summer. I can only think he'd be kept as a reserve though, it would be strange if he came back in alongside Agger as first choice.
