I think you're much better off long term with AVB than Harry but results aren't any better than last season.

at the end of the day your league position is flat or -1 and points is the same or one result different which can be down to a butterfly flapping it's wings in the Amazon.

Despite what doomongers might say, solidifying your position as solid top4 challengers is an achievement in itself. Most sides that flirt with the CL spots fall away the next year.

probably get shot down in flames but not been over impressed with lloris lately.. The goal against Stoke was pretty much straight at him, i know the defenders didnt do their job but it was a poor effort to save it, he is not as big and imposing as i would like a keeper to be

Squad is collectively about the same. All the key performance stats support this.
Home form has not been so good this season. Away form has been very good.

AVB has had his dogmatic moments (formation, choice of players etc) . But hopefully he has a season of viewing the squad and knows the strengths and weakness of players and combos/formations, and will not do the same again.

agree

he has been poor on a few occasions and his distribution has gone down hill

We're not slipping away for a while.
Finishing at least PL top 5 for 6 of the last 8 seasons tells us this. <consolidification>

Lloris has been excellent in most matches this season, so how anybody can slate him is beyond me. It might help if the defence in front of him tried defending for a change. Who do you suggest with have in goal then Friedel.

agree to a certain extent...i like a keeper too look solid and intimidating....

both lloris and de gea look too skinny for me....

I think AVB has done a very good job, considering he has been given a slightly inferior squad to last season and has had several long term injuries to key players.

The only gripe I have is that AVB prioritising the Europa League has been a mistake in my opinion.

------------

Have to disagree. If you can't cope with Europa league and finish 4th then you can't cope with Championsleague and finish Top 4. We NEED to get rid of that stupid mentality that Europe doesn't count. In many ways its what prepares you for Champions league and league squad management. This is key if we are to achieve our potential of being an established Champions league club.

agreed

was just saying that staying at roughly the same level shouldn't be viewed as a negative thing or failure by the manager. Some people think it is, I don't

The problem is we can't tell whether Chelsky or the G00ns will continually play like this, or will play to their "on paper" strengths and one season pull away from Spurs for good. If the latter, then we need to strike now re the CL slot.

sandy.. dont be a clown all the time, no one is slating anyone and your hardly the one to speak about such things

I said Lloris looked a bit poor lately and he needs to bulk up a bit, maybe a summer in the gym will do him some good ..

Hugo 'Spider-Man' Lloris does not need the gym!

...Spurs have one of the best goalies in the world, and I cannot believe you are dissing him...

Never heard a 70+ year old man using the term "dissing" before?

Next season is the acid test if avbs learns from the mistakes (I have always supported him on coaching courses in Scotland the use loads of avbs work as examples.)

I still feel we need someone like venables in there to help avb along for one season. Freund is a lovely bloke but offers nothing on that side of things.

Btw don't get your hopes on Kaboul last I heard his return date would be pushed back to August!

Devon - been saying the same re Vertonghen for some time. He never seems to get the blame for a goal on here it seems. Quite the ball watcher though.

Off the top of my head he was shambolic for the Leeds game, constantly caught flat and badly positioned. Been easily beat in the air a number of times, Everton and another I can't think of off the top of my head. Nowhere for Fulham's goal either.

You really notice it when he has Caulker alongside him, neither able to take responsibility and lead. He's a fine footballer, and good when making a tackle or in position, but much to improve on most other sides to his game

On the whole been quite underwhelmed with Lloris too.

Don't get me wrong, he's an upgrade on Friedel alright, but he certainly doesn't come for everything as promised on the tin.

There have been a few shots down his throat he hasn't saved too, and that goes back to Everton away even.

Maybe a season of settling and adjusting will do him good. Looks like he needs a bit of bulking to me too, glad I'm not the only one who thinks it

I thought Lloris could have done better for the Stoke goal but overall has been excellent.

Best keeper in the league bar Cech imo.

I'm getting really worried about Kaboul. Even if he does get fit for next season will he get back to the same level? If we got a decent offer and had a quality replacement then I wouldn't be opposed to selling as great as he was last year
