Absolute beast of a player, he epitomised the way United should and have played.
favourite goal was his free kick at home v Barca 3-3 game
Goals, both chips, against West Ham and Leicester.
Think Scholes and Veron assisted the goals.
Both sublime Cantona-esque, no scratch that, Beckham-esque chips.

Still give me goosebumps!

David Beckham on retirement: "The right time to finish my career, playing at the highest level."
Everyone is retiring
What ever next? Rob telling us he's leaving Ja606?
Rob
Happy retirement Becks. Hope you were sensible and have been paying a couple of hundred a month into a pension plan

Such an underrated player. I have an Irish mate (United fan) that argues Valencia is more dynamic than Beckham, winds me up something chronic. I don't think he gets the credit he deserves.
PSG can't have much confidence in retaining their title after such devastating news
Best memories???
Probably his retirement.
Hopefully the circus has packed up and is on it's way back to deep romania as we speak.

straight out of SAF's phrasebook
Mixed bag for me.
Loved him when he was Manchester United footballer David Beckham. Found it annoying when he became David Beckham, celebrity, footballer.
From the start of 98-99 season to the end of 2001, he was pretty much at his peak as a player, one of the top players in the world.
However I feel once he became England captain and particularly after that brilliant free-kick against Greece, he became more and more about the brand/celebrity rather than the footballer.
115 caps for England is not to be sniffed at, but many of these were earned when his ability probably didn't warrant inclusion in the squad.
You have to look to Fergie and say he got the decision right for United when Becks was sold to Madrid in 2003.
Agreed barf.
Great player for united, but then became the pretentious mcdonalds man of football.
Great bloke, very good footballer.
Thanks for the memories, David.

Beckham would still do a better job on our right wing than Valencia.
Surprised he's retired tbh. Thought he had another year or so left in him.
Due to the excessive hype I think a lot of people forget how good Beckham was at his peak (which I'd put at around 1998 to 2001). It may have been unjust to e.g. Scholes that Beckham got more attention but it wasn't all about his looks and commercial bankability. His determination and industry combined with that superb right foot made him for a little while a world class player.

I totally agree with Barf and the above sums it up neatly for me.

Valencia is faster but that's about it. Beckham can cross the ball with his left foot better than Valencia can with his right. And Beckham's left foot wasn't that great!
Well said Red Russian!!
All hail DB7 Beckham!!!
