Have you seen the film Misery.........?

Megson has clearly stated his targets.

O'Grady, Mellor, Le Fondre, Macdonald etc.

Bids have been made for those players (not by Megson, by Paul Aldridge) and have been turned down. It is then up to Aldridge and Mandaric if they want to up the offer, not Megson.

Get off the guy's back. If you want to moan at anyone, then look at the managing director and his negotiating skills, or lack of.

Well it seems he can identify players who are Strong, bullish, no nonsense but yeah, it makes me wonder if he has an eye for good young players coming through barring Batth as we seem to miss out on a lot but, like I said without a scounting network we are pretty much s crewed in that department I guess. but like I siad earlier I get the feeling something will happen today, it always does the day before the big kick off.

So there are only 4 players in the football world who we want to play for us and if we can't get them we just go with the youth team?

If we can't get those players, it's Megson's job to identify others. Otherwise, he might as well say: 'well I couldn't get Messi, Ronaldo, Rooney and Fabregas for £200k each so I'm just going to sit on my hands and sulk over it'.

Scouting netwrok sorry . Yes he has targets Consy and yes they are good players so maybe I forgot about those players but it is fustrating that players like Obika and Forrester (the type of attacking players we should be going for) seem to be going to every club but ours, but I agree that it is up to MM & PA to do the negociating and Meggy just hands over the wish list

There have been others - Roberts, Danny Green and plenty that the media won't have discovered

Milan,

Would you not class Le Fondre as a good young player?

posted on 5/8/11

We have bids on the table for 3 players (from Radio Sheffield) this morning.

posted on 5/8/11

Why should we be going for Obika? Look at his record, he has done nothing. I know nothing about Forrester so can't comment but do you really believe he has turned down Ajax to sign for the mighty Brentford? Come on, pull the other one......

posted on 5/8/11

Plus its easier to identify established players but its the players of the future that we seem to have trouble identifying (again bar Batth)

MILAN,

Danny Green and Adam Le Fondre were/are both targets.

Megson identified them, Aldridge failed with the financial side of things. Are you with me.......?

posted on 5/8/11

I only mentioned the Forrester article 'cos he seemed like an interesting young player.

Said we should sign Obika jsut for an extra body - desperate times etc

---------------------
Course yeah, but he's an established good young player, like I have just said it is easier to Identify established young players than those promising young players that are on the fringes of a premiership team. Thats why we need a scouting network to identify those players to help us

WE WANT MEGSON OUT!

I'll give him 5 games.

Consy, FFS are you for real, I said that we should go for players LIKE Obika & Forrester not for those two in particular , yeah, granted they have no proven record but shouldnt we also look for players like those that are hungary and willing to give their all, havent we had enough of has beens and never beens over tha last 10 years or so, why shouldnt go for the likes of them???

This is your problem: you seem to think negative comments mean people want the manager sacked and we're going to boo at games. I don't and won't; I'm just sounding off on here.

"Said we should sign Obika jsut for an extra body - desperate times etc"

We made that mistake in January, Irvine added £1.4m to the wage bill without really improving the quality of the side. Megson is now paying for that poor management and has been forced to move players on before he can get in his own preferred targets.

Signing Obika "just for an extra body" as you suggest is utterly ridiculous.

You mean like Prutton, Semedo, Bennett, Batth and Jones??

'We made that mistake in January, Irvine added £1.4m to the wage bill without really improving the quality of the side.'

1 of them is our starting striker and the other 2 are still in the squad - part of this defence you've been bigging up. Obika would be on loan and his wages aren't gonna be much if Yeovil can afford him. You talk utter rubbish.

Spartacus, I either think your posts are crap or brilliant. That was the latter.

posted on 5/8/11

Buxton? No
Jones? No
Batth? No
Bennett? No
Beevers? No
Otsemobor? No

If you are referring to Reynolds and R Johnson then they are our reserves so do not improve the quality of the side.

The loan signings of Jones and Batth weren't included in the wage costs of 1.4m

So your point is......?

posted on 5/8/11

I agree with you that Madine has improved the quality of the side.

Consy, you're going to give him 5 games!? That's a bit generous! If we aren't at least a goal up after 10 minutes on saturday I'm going to run on the pitch and throw my Wednesday Player ear piece thingy at him and demand his immediate resignation!
