Hows this for a starting 11 on day 1?
Hennessey
Doherty, stearman, batth, robinson(?)
Sigurdarson, henry, davis, boukhari
Griffiths, cassidy
Bench....ikeme, foley, ward, ismael, mcalinden, edwards, tank
i'd hope that with some proper fitness coaching and a full pre-season we might see the best of Doumbia again and would take him and Davis in the middle.
Expecting Stearman to leave but would be happy if he's here to take his place in that team. Boukari's an unknown quantity and might never get fit but on reputation he's worth a place (?!)...you're assuming Sako's off too there (fairly). Let's hope they get Griffiths present and performing.
So my only other change would be Elokobi for the Liverpool player that won't be coming back.
Yeah my team carries plenty of ifs for sure.....could quite easily see five of them not feature at all.
I just worry about commitment from someone like Doumbia, IF he is up for the fight he could be useful, I just get the feeling he will be gone if we get an opportunity.
The same can be said of boukahri, but hard to see anyone coming in for him for any kind of fee we would want.
Stearman would be a big bonus to keep for me.
Robinson's gone back to Liverpool hasn't he?
He has, im just being hopeful
Hard to imagine liverpool wanting him in div 1
Be interesting to see what they do about keepers too.
Hennessey, Ikeme, De Vries, McCarey, Cotman.
5 into 3 don't fit. Expect McCarey to go on season long loan somewhere and De Vries to leave for Championship if they can convince Hennessey and Ikeme to stay and fight for no. 1

Hennessey & Boukahri won’t be fit, Robinson won’t be here and a CM pairing of Davis & Henry is too defensive.
Oh, and my fears about Iwelumo are confirmed...his swansong will be in league 2 with the Iron!
Thats right tata, p@ss on my fire
It was a real best case scenario line up for me.
agree with you on the keepers burns.....should be hennessey starting as I dont see any offers after being out all season.
Heard the jay simpson link a few times, he would be useful.
The center mid pairing will be interesting, you are right about those two being too defensive......not sure what kj prefers.
Jakobsson from the youth team is now my dark horse played all our games last season.
"Heard the jay simpson link a few times, he would be useful."
As a winger? Goalscoring record pretty pants for a striker...
Don’t be soooo sensitive old chap
So much is going to depend on who we lose and who we bring in that it’s almost impossible to guess at a first day 11.
I can see a back five of
DeVries/Ikeme
Doherty Batth Elokobi Ward
A centre mid of
Davis Doumbia/Edwards
But am pulling names out the hat at random (it’s like being Dino!) to fill the wide berths and strikers to be honest.
Makes me cringe to see elokobi, ward and edwards on one team sheet but it is quite possible
I don’t think any of them let us down last season. Elokobi obviously didn’t have a chance and I know your view on Ward & Edwards’ ability but neither of them shirked last season.
If every player on show last season had given as close to their all as those two we wouldn’t have gone down.
Hmmmm not sure I share that view........fair enough with elokobi obviously and edwards does bust a b@llock but for me ward has been complacent for a long time, but that comes with no pressure on your position.
Just locked myself out the appartment on a balcony over looking the pool a minute ago.......not bad for day one

I agree with you about Doumbia for sure lizard. He is a prime example of someone that was ruined by poor management. He showed early season that he can play and was probably our best player until he had a bust up with Stale.
Griffiths and Cassidy would be a good pairing although I still think its unlikely we will ever see Griffiths play for us. But I think Liam McAlinden is a better prospect than both of them, just a matter of whether he is ready
Moxey seems adamant that hes coming back.
"But Wolves’ chief executive Moxey claims there is no chance of his club selling Griffiths to Hibs as they bid for promotion after suffering back-to-back relegations.
“He will absolutely be coming back here to play for us next season,” said Moxey. “We have taken up the one-year option on his contract, so he is with us and we will be working him.
“There is absolutely no way that Wolverhampton Wanderers has any interest other than having Leigh Griffiths here in the summer training with us in preparation for a League One campaign. He scored a lot of goals for Hibs and they are the one commodity that everyone wants, so why on earth wouldn’t we want to keep him? Some people have said that he was not given a chance in the last year or so and that is perhaps a fair accusation to make. So he is going to be given a chance now.”
.................but then again, we all know what Moxeys promises are worth.

Griffiths another Fletcher eh!
Walks away shaking his head in disbelief at "the not a football man, Moxey's" ridiculous statement.
If Griffiths is ever sold for a quarter of the fee that Wolves got for Fletcher, I will be stunned.
Think maybe you should look up both players stats Cyp!
I just did and it is impossible not to be impressed by Griffiths strike rate, far better than I expected.
Griffiths......192 games 98 goals
Fletcher.....324 games 99 goals
Now I did those stats first deliberately because I can hear you typing furiously that Fletch played in the prem but wait........
For hibs
Griffiths 76 games 39 goals
Fletcher 189 games 52 goals
Scotland combined
Griffiths 191 games 98 goals
Fletcher 189 games 52 goals
In short I think we are underestimating the potential of Leigh Griffiths, quite clearly he has the potential to become as good a player as Steven Fletcher.
Interesting reading Cinci.
Griffiths still has a way to go to be anywhere near the player Fletcher is in my opinion but you can only score against the teams you’re facing and those figures are very encouraging.
Yeah still a way to go, Fletch is the more complete player but a goalscorer is a goalscorer and those figures were very surprising.
Any idea if Griffiths is an aerial threat, anybody?
"New Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Kenny Jackett says he is looking forward to working with former Hibernian striker Leigh Griffiths.
And Griffiths’ first outing back at Wolves could come against one of his former clubs.
Ex-Millwall manager Jackett was unveiled as the new man at Molineux on Monday.
In a question and answer session with fans, he said that Scotland cap Griffiths was a player who excites him.
He said: "I think our forward line with some of the younger players is very promising.
“Griffiths is an exciting player and I am looking forward to seeing him and working with him.”

There really trying to sell this Griffiths fellow( or Wallace as I like to call him) to the press aren't they. First Moxey now Jackett. Must be someone out there who is interested and not willing to pay the price.
