Interesting points from Fawaz

Or before it such as the City Ground Q8 stadium!

posted on 1/6/13

Although it's been known as the City Ground for it's entire existence, it wouldn't be such a big deal to rename it, it's hardly the most poetic name is it? Besides, if it brought in some serious sponsorship money then I'd let them call it "Death to the Infidels Stadium".

We could ditch Mull of Kintyre (finally), and have a more energetic song in it's place.

Copied and pasted.....

Just a few points from his interview last night

-Ownership: 80% fawaz, 20% abdulaziz
-Negotiations for the purchase of the club started in March 2012
-Fawaz wanted to bring billy after sacking SOD but the CEO objected
-CEO insisted they keep Mcleish but Fawaz was getting worried about the prospect of Relegation. CEO sacked. His supporters followed
-SOD had no certain budget, he simply asked for players. He felt strongly that results didn't matter and wasn't looking to get promoted within the first two years. This was a major point of disagreement.
-Billy chose not to enforce using loans.
-Broadcast of all forest home games next season is a real possibility, Fawaz sat down with aljazeera.
-Possible stadium sponsorship (naming rights) from Q8, a Kuwaiti oil company.

Why? It is part of our history. You are obviously under a certain age. Next you will be calling for Lovin' Feeling to be stopped. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean we have to ditch for some god damn awful trance number that's so unforgettable you'd have a job remembering the title when sober, never mind high on drugs.

PS. I don't like Mull but it's our anthem.

It's like the St James' Park thing. The fans still call it that. We will still be able to sing it even if it is renamed.

i love mull of kintye, its got that ritualistic feel to it like the city ground is special. But then again, after a long week anywhere out the house feels like sanctuary .

This interview really shuts up half the doom mongerers. Fawas have backed both SOD and billy and who both 'chose' who to/not to bring it. Fawas has cut anyone whos not got real ambition and brought in those that do.

I love the idea that the whole season might be televised. If its televised over there then they'll be streams online for every game

What a load of balls that point about SOD is. There isn't a football manager in the world that doesn't care about results, and I can't imagine anyone ever saying 'you know what, I don't think I want to get the team I manage promoted for the next two years. Horse excrement. Also, don't believe a word of it if I'm honest. I don't believe that he wanted to bring Billy in before McLeish - if he did, he would've. He's just saying that to try and save face for a glaring error and to make the Billy brigade bat their eyelids at him.
I've got a lot of respect for the man and thank him for doing what he's done, but he's not a very convincing liar.
Thank you,

Mr Happy

What was wrong with the team coming out to Robinhood song that's our history too

Different era I'm afraid. I used to love that song at the CG not because it was any good, but because it meant the teams were coming out.

If it was my choice I'd have the Imperial march (Darth Vader's theme), or maybe even the shark theme from Jaws! VERY LOUD.

"who knows what could have happened if Billy had been appointed after SOD" well that's just it, who knows. We sacked SOD a point adrift in 7th, we ended up 8th. Who knows what could have happened if we hadn't got rid of SOD.

Well we would've got relegated obviously. SOD wasn't bothered about results and didn't want promotion.

thats obviuosuly a joke, SOD would have taken you up, or at least into the play-offs. Billy Davies failed forest YET AGAIN lol, and you still call him king. Yes he won his first few, but then only won one in the last eight. he is not the great manager you all think he is, Nigel Doughty only did one thing wrong, he got rid of Billy before you fans saw him for what he is

The naming rights thing is just a way of making FFP easier to deal with.
Increased income stream allows increased expenditure.
We'll all still think of it as the City Ground so who cares.

SOD would have got us into the top 6, but when Davies took over, we were BELOW Derby. That's how fcked we were after McLeish. If anything, Davies did better this season than when he saved us from relegation in his first spell.

Ilkeston, if u weren't so simple I would point things out to you but it's not worth the time or effort.

SO'D did a great job cobbling a team together and got them playing well right from the off. However it seems that for some reason we were going backwards towards the end of his time here (except ironically his last game v Leeds). Really before the Wolves game away we were looking generally good with a few hiccups after that starting at Ipswich it was almost the opposite where we were generally poor with a couple of decent performances / results thrown in.
It would certainly seem that there was some serious bad blood between Marthur etc and Billy and maybe all of the bodged transfers with us failing to land targets was down to him trying to undermine Billy. If this was the case it is unforgivable because with a few additions (even in January) to the team that finished third the season before we would have had a great chance of going up the next season, did his scheming set us back three years.
The stadium sponsorship really excites me as this could bring in some serious money which will count towards what can be spent under FFP.
Also the showing of our games in the Middle East gives us another chance to raise cash in a very rich and relatively untapped market,

We can only guess whether SOD would have got us a top 6 spot or not.
Don't forget how tight the table was at the time he was sacked,2 losses on the bounce could have seen us drop 6 or 7 places down the table.

Ilko ...

Davies managed to get more points on the board than Clough did in the same time period running upto the end of the season

The sooner you all realise NLN is not the answer then you'll get the message

Clough in!

I'll ignore Ilko's sweeping generalisations about how ALL Forest fans think. Anyway, my point was who knows. BD did a great job at the start but it wasn't sustained. I don't blame him or think that means he did a bad job. My worry with him is that the short term goal is key whereas I was happy before that we were trying to build something. It may be that this is unrealistic, I'm impressed with the youth Derby play but it could be that this just results in other teams picking off your players while your team stays where it is. Maybe academies are a waste of time?

posted on 2/6/13

Lloyd, I'm not having a go per se about Davies but its no coincidence that he got rid of the reserves at Derby and Forest.

Youth development is the only way forward for Derby and whilst Will Hughes will ultimately be sold, it's been a pleasure watching him play this season and if it releases finds to help strengthen other areas then it has to be a good thing.

Sure I would like to see Derby go out and spend 2/3 million on players but I know that's not going to happen under the current regime so we have no alternative than to develop our youth team.

I like how Derby fans say Billy failed, after coming in in February and as Webbo said accrued a lot more points then NLN.

Also they think they Billy failed as well as he only got us to two playoffs in his two full seasons in charge yet NLN is doing an absolutely brilliant job by being there 5 seasons now and Derby have moved a grand total of about 6 places.

Deluded! Maybe you should get MA at Derby, you would be one happy deluded sheep family!
