I think the fact that you are having to post this on the Liverpool board to prove to yourself that you are happy with Martinez shows you actually aren't.

Really average manager. Very lucky escape for us last summer.

You just keep telling yourself what a good manager he is

if you believe that Martinez turned the Liverpool job down then you really need to seek help mate!

I know the suns out like but come on!

Martinez didn't turn down the job as he told the Yanks he wasn't interested before they could even contemplate offering the job.

We done know who turned the Anfield job down don't we,yep Brendan Rodgers and we all know how that turned out

To be honest, I like Martinez as a person and as a manager. But I was relieved that we didn't get him last year.

I hope he does well with you. But not too well

This is just getting silly now. Can we just accept that some Liverpool fans think Martinez is rubbish, whereas most Everton fans are happy(ish) with his appointment.

And some Everton fans think Rogers is rubbish, whereas most Liverpool fans are happy(ish) with how things are going.

All this speculation about how Martinez turned down Liverpool is completely unsupported and just makes it look like we are trying to justify why we appointed him to the Liverpool fans.

Why can't we just let him manage the team and if he does a good job then he will justify himself?

This must be the new Everton line "we have the manager that turned you lot down". .

If he did turn us down it shows he has no ambition. Going to Everton only emphasises that point.

martinez was never actually offered the job

Rodgers was always our first choice. He at first rejected us to stay at Swansea before realising he was our first choice and really wanted him so he changed his mind.

End of story.

The bitters across the park were slating Martinez last summer, and laughing when he was linked with us.

Football, it's a funny old game.

Sure neo and Liverpool had an agreement with Chelsea to pay whatever Newcastle wanted for Carroll plus £15 million

I don't really care if he turned us down.

I am happy with our manager, and I believe we will finish above Everton for the forseeable future.

Everton have taken advantage (just), of our worst seasons in donkeys years to creep above us. It obviously won't last, so I wish Martinez well because however well he does, he will spend the majority of however long his Everton reign lasts below Liverpool in the table.

The derby should be more interesting too, because Martinez will actually try to win them so we won't have the Anfield bore-fests of the last decade where only one team are interested in attacking.

Thanks for the tip fatlad but as always I'll just ignore you

The reaction of the Everton fans on here, Dr Phil especially, says one thing.

They're just gutted they didn't get Hodgson.

I think this is perhaps a more reasoned outlook. I'm not sure I can confidently predict what will happen in the nxt few years as every time Liverpool finish the season well and are optimistic, they start the next one like complete strangers.

The teams were obviously close this season in terms of results, but how much of thst is down to Moyes and how much Martinez can continue is guess work and extrapolation.

I agree that I am excited about seeing some attacking football at Goodison and with all the changes looking forward to an exciting new season.

Course he wasn't. He's already at a top club. No manager would take a step down.
