Roman has 10billion pounds now, when he bought us he was valued at around 6.6 billion. He is currently 3.4 billion richer than he was in 2003 despite a global recession, divorce, a number of yachts and airplanes purchased and all the money he spent on Chelsea.
Do you really think he is that concerned?
*-----------------
Pretty much irrelevant a bit like his plastic club's trophy haul.
All bought by Russian gangster money.
Fordstam owns the football club company, and owes Abramovich £726m. The loan is interest free, but it is repayable if Abramovich gives 18 months' notice. The Russian could still demand the money back some day, either if the club is making a profit, or if he were to sell it. He has not, in fact, written off the huge loans he has made on his Chelsea adventure
he could sell Chelsea for at least £500mil and write off the rest as a personal loss
I don't know what all this walk away nonsense is.
If he sold the club to someone else the new owner would have to take that 900m debt on that we owe him
Pretty much irrelevant a bit like his plastic club's trophy haul.
-----------------
There is no value to Roman to write it off. If he does, then if Chelsea get taken over he will not recoup what he has put in.
------------
Even so, who would take over a club that they would have to pay a fortune to the former owner and still splash cash on new investments? Wouldn't it be wiser to just buy a club with less "baggage" and start a fresh?
Does anyone have a link for the financial figures?

Cheers Bluespensioner. I found that already. I couldnt see any of the net debt figures on it though that the OP has mentioned.
Put it this way, there is no way Roman will get his money back.
Chelsea are not worth even close to £1bn, liabilities outstrip any incoming revenue.
He may get a portion of it back, maybe upto 50% but that's it.
Madrid's revenues are just insane!! Where the feck do they get all that money?!!
at the end of the day it's human beings kicking the ball into the net that wins trophies & matches.
where the cash came from to pay them is irrelevant to me. If an owner wants to better the team, good for him.

....................
I would say that a very good percentage of the world is Spanish speaking. pretty much everyone in South america supports Real.
That is how they made a killing on Ronaldo shirts.
Because they have global superstars from lots of different countries and some of the most marketable players in the world including CR7
They also make like £200m in broadcasting revenues
and a huge amount in match day income due to their stadium

They've probably been the biggest club in the world for the past 50 years, look at their CL history.
Madrid and Barca take something stupid like 50% of the Broadcasting deal, while the remaining 50% is split with the rest of the league.

If fairness to united they really took advantage of the boom of money in football, they should be applauded for growing their revenue streams to this amount a season.
I've no love for united but that's a very impressive achievement and shows a direct correlation between success on the pitch and greater revenue off it.
Broadcasting rights are where Madrid and Barca trump Bayern and United.

I hope one day United reach the revenue streams that Madrid generate Going to require hard work on the pitch though
Isn't Real's training ground on one of the most expensive patches of land on the planet too? I'm sure there always used to be a 'fact' that Real could clear their debts instantly just by selling off the training complex?
------
Sounds about right. They apparently used a "compulsory purchase order" or similar to get it on the cheap too..
I thought Real didn't own their training ground any more? Wasn't it bought off by the government and is now rented back to them? Or was that just 'one of those stories'
