Do you rate Russel better than Goodwillie DundeeSpur ?
Rued, I know you don't the chance to watch your team in europe much but you're getting us confused with another team who used to play in Glasgow.

Kind of relieved we did go for JR do see anything particularly outstanding in him. Hope he does well do south -
anybody care to explain this in English
Definitely, O'malley.
Goodwillie is a good player but a bit of a primadona.
JR is much more level-headed and a more honest player. He's not afraid of a bit of hard graft if needed.
Just my opinion but I'vce seen both of them play and there's just something about JR that I like
I agree with you on the primadona thing, but if he goes to Derby he will be stuck in a place where there is less of a chance to get better experience. The Championship is a game of death-where promotion is all that matters. Many young careers have been ruined there.
Anyway guys signing off now.I enjoyed my first debate.Cheers all.
Agree that it's a risk for him O'm but I think it's case of getting himself a reputation down south and hoping he gets noticed.
Derby wouldn't have been my first choice but they're keen on him and obviously see his potential. Hopefully they'll get the best out of him as a player.
I'm expecting him to get plenty of first team action at Derby rather than sitting on the bench for a bigger club

Goodstuff oma, as you shall be known.
Russell is reportedly in Derby for a physical. So, untwist your knickers.
Q,..Russell is lying on a beach somewhere, medical is set for Monday.Terms and conditions have been agreed.
So why 2 posts in a row complaining about him coming to Celtic?
FFS it's as bad as reading the fekin Record on here.
Rued - bitterness is not an attractive quality - why can't you wish us well in Europe like we have with your team in the past?
Maheed
All - You're not going to buy a ready made Champions League player for £800k! One of the prime roles of a coach or a manager in ANY job is to develop your team members and make them better at their job. Russell has demonstrated more than enough raw talent over the past 2 years to justify signing him. And if it doesn't work out, it's not like we've lost a fortune.
Of course, if Lenny DOESN'T want him........................................................................................................................................................... Russell can feck off to Derby
Omalley
Celtic are already puncihing above their weight by getting to the last 16 of the champions league, and you want improvement on that, and guys brought in in order to do that....for me thats asking a bit much.
You have to remember mate, that your club plays in the SPL, and you have to bring in players that will SETTLE for playing in that league, with a peppering of Champions League football throughout the season only being a PART of the big picture.
Celtic are not seen as a club that is consistently competing in the latter stages of the Champions League, and the SPL is regarded as pi$h poor on the continent......in some recent years Celtic havent made the Champions League group stages or even got out of a Europa League group let alone a Champions League one
This is Celtic's level, and getting players in to improve that position will not only be difficult due to Celtic's overall position in European football, merely bringing a few players in really wont do anything to bring the SPL's reputation up either, which is what Celtic need more than anyone right now
