Sony must be doing the same or something similar, cos i dont think microsoft would be so brave to announce this...
E3 is next week so we'll just have to wait and see.
The Xbox One is basically a giant paperweight with out an internet connection
To be fair, most people have WIFI at home, and connecting to the internet once an hour isn't hard.
Does seem like a stupid idea though.
Can transfer games but only to friends on your friends list for 30 days.
Can only buy used games from 'participating retailers'.
Must connect to the Internet once every 24 hours or you cannot play your legally purchased games.
Bye bye Xbox

What if your connection goes down for a week?

Maybe in western culture, but consoles are sold all over the world, there's a big market who probably don't use the internet at all. Seems crazy to not appeal to them.
I do not have a stable internet connection at home and I know I am not the only one. I keep hearing that new game is going to cost £90. There seems to be more cons than pros with the next gen consoles. Second hand games is another confusing issue.
I will not be buying an Xbox One and if the PS4 both have to always be online I will not be buying either.
If Sony want to make billions of extra money, all they have to do is - NOTHING. Just keep the same policies for PS4 as you did worth PS3 and you'll wipe the floor - and every other surface - with Microsoft.
Xbox and Kinect with an always on internet requirement - NSA must be rubbing their hands with glee

Thats fine. I dont lend my games to strangers anyway....
Can only buy used games from 'participating retailers'.
Still fine. I imagine the places you usually buy used games from will all sign up.
Must connect to the Internet once every 24 hours or you cannot play your legally purchased games.
Online once every 24 hours...so what? I'm sure 95% of XBox/PS users are connected EVERY time they turn it on.
I think all the people imagining that Sony wont roll out ANY of these changes is just naive. The used games market has become a real issue during this generation and if they didnt do something about it then games prices WOULD sky rocket.
Oh and the £90 issue? That was Amazon just placing a price holder. It'll be around the usual price, I expect.

I'll probably just keep my Xbox360- I have enjoyed it and don't see the massive difference that means I have to upgrade. I'll continue using it whilst games are still released on this platform.
You've got about another good 3 years then apparently.
For me, the main thing is having an free online service, I don't care if it's far inferior to the paid service, as long as I can play games online with other people then I don't care.
I don't want to pay for additional crap like a nice online interface etc.
What about when you're switching your internet provider, doesn't that take a week or more to switch? What if your internet provider goes down, what if you're not in a good area for wifi signal? What if ethernet cables get damaged, any of these and you can't play games.
Regular users of 606 obviously have a good internet connection, so it wouldn't apply to most of us, as proven by the fact we use 606 regularly, so our internet is fine, but there is probably many who don't have a regular internet connection, and play games a lot.
For me, all PS4 needs to do is keep the online network free (I kind of doubt they will), and not require to connect every 24 hours, and they will wipe the floor.
I'm not bothered about what they do with used games and using old games on newer consoles
I don't understand why you have to connect every 24 hours, I mean it doesn't bother me in the slightest as I'm online every time I play, but how does this benefit Microsoft or its customers?
MS and Sony would have already discussed all of this.
Otherwise PS4 coudl awamp the market by allowing 2nd hand games and allowing offline gameplay
Bet Sony do the same..or something similar

Good question, I don't know the answer either.
What prices does everyone recon the consoles will cost?

And if your internet connection goes down for a week?
Or you move house/change ISPs and it takes them forever to get you set up?
I would be happy with £400. I spent a lot more on phones and they only last a year not 7. Any more than £400 will put me off because I know in a year or so the price will drop
Sony have a real opportunity to win people back here but I bet they balls it up as usual
If Sony just read all the forum comments from various sites, they'd get a massive idea of what people want, they really should be.
It's inevitable they will incorporate some things that the consumer doesn't want, but they can get a real edge over Microsoft by listening to it's customer as much as it can, Microsoft seems to have ignored everyone but the big wigs at the top
Nintendo Gamecube is the answer.

They sure will. Despite what Microsoft are doing they will still beat Sony in sales. The boffins at Sony really are idiots.
