You'll do well to get £8m for him. Wouldn't be any worse than Bradley Johnson for Norwich though.

I'd rather he stays as he's got a lot of potential IMO

But if we could get 8 it would be hard to turn down

Jonjo will never be a top player. Might as well let him go for the right offer.

I think jonjo would suit a lot of premier league clubs, he needs game time hes never going to be a player that can perform now and then from the bench or w.e.

I'd still prefer us to loan him out for a season however but if they wna meet our valuation of the player and BR is happy he could use the 8m im sure.

£8m....

I know the owners like to turn a profit, but really

Selling Jonjo isn't the right decision for me. The guy is clearly talented but he needs to get a full season of games under his belt. I'm sure in a couple of years times he will be a very good player, and will be kicking ourselves if we miss that.

He must go out on loan to a premier league club. He's not ready to play for us, but will be in due time.

Apparently, Norwich will be willing to meet the valuation... If they do meet the valuation should we let him go? We are supposedly keeping Allen.

I think Shelvey has ability and when he plays on instinct he can be decent but to me he looks ponderous most of the time, almost like he's not sure what to do. Never is that more evident than with his finishing.

Maybe it'll come with time, I wouldn't bet on it though. I think he can become a decent EPL player but if Norwich were willing to pay £8m then I'd accept and wish him well.

I can't see him ever being a first team regular at the moment and we can't afford to give him the game time in the first team which he needs to improve.
I would prefer to see him after being loaned out for a year at another premier league club but if they do offer £8 million then i think we should take it.

If they meet our valuation then sure, I mean I kinda like Jonjo as frustrating as he is I can see he has some brilliant ability. Which is why I would rather see him out on loan again but at premier league level, he looked good for Charlton had a brilliant short spell at Blackpool before we called him back scoring 6 goals in 10 games?

I can understand selling him if £8m is on the table.

He is not going to get enough games for us to develop how he needs to. We could loan him out but then we would have to get a replacement in, and would have the same problem when he came back.

If we can get good money for him, then it might make sense to sell him and buy someone who will get more games.

£8m sounds about right to me for a full international with about 50 top level and about 100 other games under his belt.

Given the options at CM, I see Shelvey a player who could be sold or certainly loaned out.

If the valuation is met, I hope we put a 'buy back' clause in his contract, I think he can become a decent player for us in the future

Would prefer a season loan for him tbh

posted on 7/6/13

he's only 21

I think if we sold we would eventually regret it

but if the money got used to help fund someone quality now then it might be the better move

I think when you have so many good young players its inevitable that some good ones have to be sold sometimes.

As long as you get a good fee for them and the team improves then I don't think regret comes into it even if he goes on to be top class.

It could have been the move that aided that player in becoming top class in the first place.

unfortuantely for him, coutinho is younger and currently better than him, so the question would be if we feel he can develop into a top class player in a deeper role, i personally dont think he will ever be any better than hendo, so if 8m was offered for him, i would take it as it seems to be the best idea for both parties as we get a good chunk of money for him, and he has regular game time and out of the limelight to develop

No doubt he has ability, but he simply doesn't have the brain to get to the top or anywhere near it. Sterling came in for criticism this year but his game intelligence is light years ahead of Jonjo.

When he first emerged I was convinced he had the ability to become a top player but he is regressing badly at the moment and his temperament is way off.

I think he can stay with us if we persist in the bracket of also rans but if we want to move up then he will be one of the first to leave.

Eriksen is apparently available for just a couple of million north of 10m...

If we sold Shelvey for 7 or 8m and bought Eriksen, it'd go down as one of the best bits of business in the club's recent history - usually we're on the receiving end of buggerings like that (for instance, the rumours about selling Reina and buying Begovic for twice as much).

If £8m is on the table, take it. If not loan him out and see if he looks like realising his potential.

posted on 7/6/13

Or we could loan him to Norwich for the season with an £8m fee agreed?
