I know fear when I see it, and you were obviously really afraid last night. Please post today so we know you are safe and well.
Bully im not sure about devries being disinterested or not very good I thought once he came in he was far better than ikeme who got beaten from over 20 yards far too often.
As has been said we only need to worry about the 60% rule if we go up. By which time we'd be back with championship income anyway. I think moxey is just using that as an excuse to sell players. I dont know why we think we can sell anyone thats any good and still stay up. All the promoted teams from league 1 finished above us last year
Thanks for your intelligent input Deja. I eagerly await the day when you post something constructive.
Witless, when will you get the message that you are not in a position to criticise the posts of anyone on here because you write more trash than anyone

Would it not be reasonable to see Hennesey loaned out to gain fitness.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Think that would be a good call Bully. Don't know how long Henners has left on his contract but if it was for a few years maybe a season long loan to a Champo side and then the rest of the team can join him there next year.
I personally think we'd be better off keeping him. We'll keep a lot more clean sheets with him than without which I think will be vital this year because we'll have the firepower to score plenty once we ship out doyle
I would like to see us keep Hennessey for at least the time being so that he refinds his better form and then commands the fee he is worth. I guess whether we do keep him will depend on what offers he attracts after such a long time out.
Personally I would keep Ikeme ahead of De Vries. He is still young and improving and in my mind is already the better of the two. Having said that I think McCarey is a decent prospect and may well be close to being ready to be our 2nd choice
spot on DJ
ikeme was excellent first half of last season and it is too easy for fans to overlook how much it takes for a goalkeeper to look good behind a woeful defence. henners did the same in the prem, which is why everyone knows he is a top flight keeper who will be back in the highest league soon - fitness permitting.
I think we start the season with both ikeme and Hennessey (who will need a few months to regain full fitness and get match sharp) unless there is a silly money offer for WH. if someone from the prem takes a punt and tries to sign him now for his real value - maybe £6-8m - then I could see us letting him go, but I don't expect it to happen.
behind ikeme and Hennessey we have mccarey who looks like another really promising keeper off the wolves production line...and cotman further down the line as well. on that basis and because doris will be on high wages still to warm the bench, I think it is a no brainer to let him go.
WITSS - as mentioned (less politely) above, transfers are generally capital. so a player contract 'worth' £5m on day one will depreciate over the say five years by perhaps £1m a year (this is overly simplified I know). if we sold that player in year three for £5m then in theory we see a £1m 'loss' in years 1 and 2 and a £2m gain in year 3. but none of that touches the turnover figure which is revenue rather than capital. profits from the sale of fletcher/Jarvis/kightly are still profits but they aren't turnover. hope that clears it up
"this is overly simplified I know"
Unfortunately, I suspect it still wont be simplified enough for him to comprehend. Don't you have any visual assists? ...............................Or perhaps a mallet?
Profits and losses on transfer dealings are shown in the profit figure, and as gbwolf says, players' transfer fees are amortised (charged to the profit and loss account) over the length of the contract, eg Kevin Doyle £6.5m over five years is £1.3m a year. So if Doyle is sold this month, June, his contract value to Wolves after four years' service is £6.5m less (4 x £1.3m = £5.2m) = £1.3m. If you get £2.5m for him, you make a profit of £1.2m and that £1.2m profit will be shown in the accounts for the year ended 30 June 2013.
As an Albion fan, I really don't get all this WITSS bashing. He might not know how transfers are accounted for in a club's accounts, but not many people do, and his posts and opinions are at least as good and valid as anyone's on here; while others, who should know better, seem to be held in higher regard.
aries,
no bashing from me WITSS isn't the first or last footy fan on here to not understand how accounts work. what's kind of sad is to what extent the whole game of football has been overtaken by money issues . it has to all intents made the prem league into a FTSE20, with places decided by how rich yr owner is or how much debt the club is willing to take on.
Aries
I have started a thread for you to post your thoughts over on your own board.
Deja, I really couldn't give a shít what you do.
gbwolf, I agree. I read an article the other day that said PL clubs (including the relegated ones who will receive parachute payments) will get up to 93% of all Sky money under the new Sky deal, and that Championship and League One and League Two clubs will get 7%. I can't find the article now, but it just isn't right.
Its not right Aries but if your paying between £40-£60 a month on your Sky subscription who would you rather watch Man U vs Man City or Mk Dons vs Stevenage?
true tara,
but who would you rather watch (even if you weren't a wolves fan) - stoke v norwich or wolves v sheff utd is a much closer question.
the problem with the structure of finances right now is that it has become the only way to gain success. albion and Swansea just had their best seasons for a long, long time and the only realistic way they will even stand still in terms of league position is by spending millions more on players and wages.
Damn you and your questions, gb.
Lets be honest, the premier league is very average despite all the hype and bullsh@t, its hardly any more competitive than the scottish league before rangers decline.......2 of 12.......3 of 20!?!
The weekends England game showed yet again how overrated English football is as a whole.....15 million quid zaha, you must be kidding........humiliated by Norway.
In answer to your question GB.....Wolves Sheff utd is an infinitely bigger better game to watch....one is two teams battling out a division to possibly become champions, the other is a game to avoid relegation and more importantly load the pockets of the club, no glory at all.

You do talk rubbish at times cinci. The average Premier League team would be UEFA Cup contenders in any league other than Germany, Spain and Italy. The Average SPL team would present us with 6 points next next season.
Thank you aires and gb for clarifying the issue.
The day some on here desist, hell will freeze over.
They're the ones who look foolish and I'm sure not many understand about their clubs accountants either, but they pretend they do.
Tara, I don't have Sky if only because I work abroad most of the year so don't get my money's worth watching it, but if I did I would watch loads of other sports. Man Utd v Man City should be better football, but lower league stuff can be just as interesting for different reasons.
Jonathan Flatt is highly rated as well. Saw him play in Matt Murrays testimonial and was impressed.

I’d be happy to move Ikeme out in the summer and start with DeVries and McCarey as back up. January would be the time to think about moving Hennessey on
