I may stick with Microsoft, games have impressed me more than sonys with the exception of a few ps4 games

In order

PS4
Wii U
Xbone

Won't be buying any until the PS4 becomes cheaper just to play the games that aren't on PC

Ditto.

Microsoft have made this an easy choice for me.

Not that Sony are by any means a 'nice' company but Microsoft have taken a big dump over their user base and expected them to eat it.
But thats par the course for microsoft. Take something good, ruin it but still expect people to buy it. See: windows vista.

Pretty much as Blueboy has said - its more a principle thing and the fact neither company had that good a line up of exclusives imo.

Anyone buying XBone is telling MS that they don't restrictive DRMs and don't mind being unable to sell what they own*. Its the reason I won't get the XBone. That and kinect always watching me.

*don't mind restrictive DRM...

Knowing MS, they'll impose more DRM if this is a hit.

There's a lot of assumptions being made that are simply not true. Need to wait a few months yet before fully making a decision for me.

@Meltonblue - from M$ themselves, the kinect needs to be connected at all times for the console to work, you also need to delve into the options to turn off 24hr listening and change what stuff will be sent to server.

plugged in and turned on are very different things

used a lot of the xboxone then?

I don't really see the problem, how is that any different to the kinect now, I have it permanently plugged in jut rarely use it? Microsoft have explicitly said it does not need to always be on and that no data will leave the console unless there is user permission.

Do people think Microsoft are going to start gathering masses of videos of people sat there in their front rooms or something? I mean, come on, some of this is getting slightly ridiculous.

melton you should come join the discussion about it

you seem in the minority on here who isn't simply going on what twitter and facebook are saying about the consoles

Nope - as it needs to listen so you can say stuff to it. You can turn off listening for turning the xbox on - the reason why it listens 24hrs is so it can be turned on - you can limit what is sent but i have seen nothing that suggest you can turn it off. Like kinect on the 360 i dont believe there is a way to turn it off other than unplugging it, why it is connected it is on. I really dont get all the fuss as the whole point in the Kinect 2.0 is to make the interface better, but it does seem the tin foil hat brigade are having a field day on this one!

Microsoft did come out and say you could turn it off, I dont exactly get what they are so worried about, what exactly could it find out and use? maybe if people start banging thier girlfriends with the xbox on then it starts advertising viagra?

Right, exact quote from Microsoft -

""When the system is off, it’s only listening for the single voice command -- “Xbox On,” and you can even turn that feature off. User data, such as videos, photos, facial expressions, heart rate and more... this data will not leave your Xbox One without your explicit permission... When Xbox One is on and you’re simply having a conversation in your living room, your conversation is not being recorded or uploaded.""

What exactly is people's problems with it? What do you think might happen?
