Danny Berbatov?

I have to say if £20m is on the table, they will sell. That's too much of a return on our £30m to say no for a player who's age will soon begin too creep up on him. Besides that, the strikers are beginning to pile up at our club, not necessarily a bad thing but if he doesn't get the game time he feels he deserves this year he'll want to go next year and for a lot less then £20m.

Him and Cleverly are going to be big players for us this season. But we've got a lot more young players to come through as well.

Apart from getting Sneijder (fingers crossed) we dont need to spend stupid money like Man City.

I'd rather keep Berbatov than have the £20m. Success first and foremost and we have a better chance with him than without. Also, will Fergie spend any of the £20m anyway? And what would we get for £20m? Nowhere near the quality Berba adds.

Regarding Welbeck I'm very impressed at how he has progressed over the last 2 years in particular. But to pick up on just one point in the OP, pace he does not have.

So what are you saying here?
Wellbeck is worth £20million?

If it's Liverpool buying he would be

He does, bags of it. I have watched him a lot so I know he does. Pace off the mark ala Hernandez or Owen in his prime, no. Pace over a distance, oh boy yes. He's not SLOW off the mark to be fair, just not got Bugatti acceleration.

Half
When did I say anything close to that? Like, even a little bit. If you're not smart enough to understand an article, don't comment on it.

I'll bow to your better judgement cos you've probably watched him more, but everytime I've seen him especially when he's played out wide, he's not looked quick. What you said about pace off the mark could be it

Sorry forgive me for struggling to understand what "if you where man or women to make the call, wouldn't you really keep him around to get in the way of a younger and hungry player?".............................

And how does that equate to saying Welbeck is worth £20m? Go have a lie down and keep taking the tablets

Half
Ooo one dodgy sentence and you can't understand the whole 40 line article or whatever it is. I see how this makes me a half wit. Do you enjoy the taste of window cleaner? You must taste it a lot while you're slapping you're watch.

Thanks for the solidarity! A change of pace from the usual ja606 mugs, you make!

lol I wasn't trying to be yoda!

I'd still keep Berba though

posted on 5/8/11

BTW if Half a T1t had any brains he would have asked the question, is Berba worth £20m. I think back to when we sold Van Nistlerooy for like £11m to £12m. I thought we undersold him at the time but it's still a bit steep for Berba

...I'm always trying to be yoda it's a curse that I've had to live with ever since I saw the little green b*gger! Yeah RVN was worth MUCH more than the £5 and a pack of skips we got for him.

Berbatov is ten times the player of Welbeck, a cultured and widely misunderstood player, I assumed the OP was saying Welbeck was an immediate replacement for Berbatov, he is the kind of player you don't miss till he is gone.

posted on 5/8/11

*sigh*
If I thought Welbeck was an immidiate replacement for Dimitar, why would I be on the fence with £20m being offered for Berbatov?

You sir, either did not read what I typed properly, and arenow trying to save face by being abusive and dismissive.

Are trying to start arguments because you are bored and lonely and have nothing else to do.

Or you're disability is really coming through now and you should take a deep breath, try and relax, and do your very best to find

THE LIVERPOOL BOARD.

Ok, so what exactly are you basing the statement "Danny Wellbeck is going to be one of the best ever strickers we've ever produced" on?

posted on 5/8/11

On the performances I've watched him give over his short career so far, and the potential I've seen in him. What else would I base it on? Maybe if you checked

THE LIVERPOOL BOARD

you would get a

HINT

as to how to see talent in young players. Your manager seems to think that

LIVERPOOL FANS LIKE YOU

should be very excited about

YOUR OWN PLAYERS

who are young and going to take over from your current first team. So half a big bite, do you have any more questions you'd like to ask me, or would you now like to

F.C.O.F
.U.K.F.

Probably his opinion and fact we haven't produced man great strikers. Certainly not in the few decades.

posted on 5/8/11

and why does he have to be an instant replacement for Berbatov for him to end up one of the best strikers we've produced? Didier Drogba certainly wasn't world class at Danny Welbecks age, only burn out, pace-only strikers are great at 19-20 usually.

So this is basically based on one half decent season with Sunderland? interesting............. Henderson anyone?

You may not have heard of him before then but he's been playing for a few years before that. I'm sure There's a Thought has been following him for a while from his response earlier. I was watching him in CC matches 2/3 seasons ago. I think the debut There's a Thought spoke about was against Stoke in Ronaldo's last season? Maybe he can confirm that.

Welbeck will go to Euro 2012 with England in the summer. He is THAT good. You mark my words.
