But yes, he has previously returned from retirement about the same number of times as Sachin has been playing international cricket

"moved forward"

Think you may need to rethink your wording. One direction they're definitely not moving in is forwards.

When does this tour start as there is a tri nation one day series with SL and India till mid July? At this moment no matches have been agreed?

Chand for India is class.

For Pakistan, Mohammad Nawaz and Babar Azam are the ones to look out for.

Is it this Nawaz that has been picked? The guy that played in the U-19 WC...If so they could have picked Babar Azam too. Mohammad Nawaz is a younger version of Hafeez. Only difference he will bat lower down. If Nawaz starts to perform. Hafeez will not be needed.

As for changes once again i'm mystified as we have replaced known failures with more known failures.

Khan - a poor one day player
Iqbal - is another god forsaking Imran Farhat
Safraz - Have they forgotten how hopeless he was in SA?
Adnan Iqbal - Why? He is not good enough for one dayers. Need to give Umar the gloves.

I hope when the squad is trimmed these 4 do not make it. I don't mind having Afridi back cos on West Indies tracks he is useful but still wont get in the team for me.

Hammad Azam has had a poor domestic season with both bat and ball so this one shows how desperate we are getting with the lack of talent. Anyone know much about Muhammad Nawaz?

As for Khurram Manzoor I hope he is brought into the Test set-up. He should open and can open. We need players in the Test arena who can stay at the crease and he can do exactly that. I'd have Nasir opening with Manzoor in Tests. He deserves another chance. Therefore you are not going to use the same opening partnership for ODI's are you? So I'd have Shehzhad opening with Jamshed.

Just looked up that Maqsood lad he has a very good record. He bats at 3 it seems, so I would chop and change him and Younis at 3. For a few games I'd play the youngster then Younis; Younis can help him cement that place and as soon as he does we are in business.

I don't like the idea of going with Iqbal. Please we are doing the same thing here!

I'd prefer Umar over Adnan as W/K everyday. And as for Sarfraz well one tour of RSA where quite a lot of batsman failed he cannot be judged on. I'm saying just give him the chance. At least he can learn, unlike Kamran!- I know people don't like what they have seen from him before, but at least it is not Kamran!- I hope this Mohammad Rizwan lad gets picked soon.

As for Mohammad Nawaz he is the guy from the U-19 WC. I remember him putting up some very good performances. I'm glad he has been picked, he looks to have great potential. The lad comes in the middle/lower order and can finish an innings. The exact place we want Hafeez to be batting, Nawaz will be batting which is great stuff. Only difference Nawaz looks better. Then he has potential to bowl left arm spin which he does. I'm not sure how good he is but he once again seems a Hafeez type in terms of bowling.

As for Hammad the reason he is picked is on potential but the fact that last season towards the middle and the end of the season he picked up on his form if I recall correctly. Still prefer him in the team, he was never ever given the opportunity even when selected.

Yeah, kash good point about exact dates. The tri-series is probably end of July as India tour Zimbabwe first. I just hope we have 2/3 that make a solid start and can really push on.

Not sure which nawaz it is amir, think you have more knowledge of the up and coming youngsters of Paks than I do. I still think Hammad deserves a chance. Will be interesting to see how we get on.

Has Umar Amin been retained?

posted on 22/6/13

So no recall for Azhar Ali

posted on 22/6/13

It is the guy from the U-19 WC. Surely you guys remember him playing last year on SKY? Am sure we spoke about him. I guarantee if this Mohammad Nawaz lad proves himself we will all be calling for Hafeez to go because this lad will basically be a better, younger and more attacking version of Hafeez.

posted on 22/6/13

I'm not too fussed about Azhar Ali because it seems the youngsters picked, deserve their chance. It don't matter too much because Azhar can focus on Tests and prove why he's our best batsman.

posted on 22/6/13

Surely Amin will be retained in the final squad. Can't see him getting in the team though. True about azhar Ali, should stick to tests.

The thing with Amin is people remember him from the 2010 England tour and I for one think...From what I have seen from him recently at least he has the talent and the passion to play for Pakistan. Shoaib Malik whether getting out on the field, did not seem to give a toss on the fact that he was getting out for 0 etc... Whereas, Umar Amin at least v India showed like he wanted it. I know he messed up in the field, but when you show and give your all...people forgive you.

posted on 22/6/13

Amin is more of an innings builder and not a bigger hitter. I reckon he is a long term replacement of misbah in years to come?
