Seriously, unbelievable performance by Afridi- 7-fer, plus 70 odd smashed with the bat- That's a proper all-round performance. Nobody expected that!- Best ODI figures by a Pakistan. Second best of all-time. Plus, the performance with the bat- We all know he is a match-winner, but didn't know he had all of that left in him. Afridi probably never performed like this in his prime.

The LION says hello...

Robin, the same minnows that annihilated Pakistan a couple of weeks ago? The same minnows that had us for 45-5 today

Amir, how's that for bowling for you?

The lion single handled taught everyone a lesson today. Play positive and ffs attack. The over defensive approach doesn't work! He won't perform every game, but who does? If he chips in with 20-30 with the bat and pick wickets here and there, he's done his job.

As the old saying goes, it's better to be a lion for one day than being sheeps for your entire life <like some of the others>. Onwards and upwards

Great performance by Afridi. But once again we have Misbah to thank for holding the Pakistan innings together. Top order are just woeful/useless. Seems like we start batting when we are 3 or 4 down every game.

Players need to up their game or be replaced.

Whilst misbah held the innings together, his slowness is irratating. It's beyond belief that he can't rotate strike. He's got into a routine whereby he needs 40 balls to get used to his surroundings.

posted on 14/7/13

Misbah was playing for his one day average. He put too much pressure on the other batsman as all he was doing was block. Misbah got out of jail due to Afridi.

We know misbah can play, because he seems to come alive at the latter stages of the innings playing big shots or rotating strike regularly... Not sure why he takes the p!55 at the start. He needs to stop feckinnn around and get on with it

Is pakistan going to go with Misbah in the WC15? if not pak cricket should seriously think about get a new captain in. You dont want to have a new captain just 4 weeks before the WC. also you need to feel in that position.

Misbah innings was irritating, but you have to listen to what the players said.

Afridi said I played positive and told Misbah to stay at the crease. Plus, Misbah said it's he most difficult pitch he batted on and was looking at getting close to that 200 mark. Plus he just kept on giving Afridi the strike.

Misbah did well to once again come in and save the top order. Yes, he should have played quicker, but Afridi did that for him. Misbah cannot bat like that again, but in this situation it worked.

Moin Khan also said Afridi should retire- Something along those lines. This was when he hit his bad patch, before India series or around about their.

Afridi vs Pollard was entertaining yesterday

I personally think Afridi should be dropped again:

Shahid Afridi in ODI comebacks:
8 matches. 4 Man of the Match awards.
4 fifties in 7 innings, Batting average: 46.85
23 wickets, 2 five-fors, Bowling average: 10.30

In all seriousness that is why I have always said Afridi should be selected in the squad, but I would not play him all the time. Example, Junaid Khan dropped after to his standards a poor CT. Now whether you agree with his exclusion or not when he plays again he will have a point to prove which will give him that much extra to perform. Same with Afridi.

His comeback games prove it- He has a point to prove and boy does he prove it. Imagine a 5 game series, he does not perform for the first two- You drop him, bring him back for the last game- At least that way we can get the best out of him. When his form just dips, drop him for a few games then bring him back- Not just wait 15 games for him to perform again.

Adot,

I accept that argument and viewpoint. However, what I don't agree with is why you're making specific rules for Afridi and only Afridi. What about other players that don't perform on a regular basis? Why aren't you calling for their heads? Disgusting, disgraceful and a shameful way of looking at things, like most Afridi haters . When will pakistan fans start supporting the team and not have biased for some players over the others and make certain rules for some players and not everyone else?? This is exactly why pakistani cricket will never move forward. Our board, management and fans are obsessed with favouritism.

People called for certain players heads and they went. There was a certain point we asked for Hafeez to be moved down- Now I want him gone full stop. So it's not just Afridi I am looking at. So many experienced players got criticised, Afridi was one of them. It is only you that thinks the whole of Pakistan has something against him.

BTW, as we saw on Sunday- A performing Afridi means most likely the team will win and for sure thrive under his performance. That is why it is best not for Afridi, but for the team if that happens. We want Pakistan to win, one of the best ways of doing so is Afridi performing- And as mentioned selecting him when his performing is one way of doing that.

What also happens is it gets people off Afridi's back- If he is performing no-one can say anything, when he doesn't he gets drops, comes back and performs. And no-one can say anything. Once again the best for the team. There are others who I want completely gone now- And Hafeez is one of them. They shouldn't even move him down. I couldn't care less about the balance he brings. Or his bowling. He can facck off the kaant!

I don't think most of pak is against Afridi. But when Afridi and misbah play, almost every single game it's one of their faults, no matter what they do. What about the feckkkkin rest, why don't they share the blame for a change? That's my only gripe!l

Changes for tommorow -

Shafiq our Haris Sohail in.

We still need to go with 3 seamers as conditions will require that. Otherwise I would have dropped a seamer for Umar Amin.
