This is why we need a quick start. This is why umar Akmal should come in at 3. This is why misbah should rotating the strike. This is what happens... When will these muppets learn?

I know i'm banging on about it but Fatmore and Misbah need to be questionned. We are batting like minnows. Those first 5 overs were a joke. Never seen something like that before.

This will be the 4th game in 5 that we won't manage over 200 let alone 250. Shambles. Utter disgrace

Well played umar Akmal, not alot he could do there. Good innings, but not enough

Pathetic performance.

awful batting especially by afridi and hafeez

What a joke side. When are they going to realise that Tuk Tuk cricket does not work.

Misbah should never allowed the West Indies to bat first. What planet was he on? Then he goes and scores 17 from 41 balls.

Don't forget jammy got very lucky today. If it wasn't for the dropped catches we'd have been out for 130

posted on 16/7/13

Kash, we can't always rely in batting first. If we can't chase 230, we may aswell give up. At sometime or another, we need to face up to the chasing problem.

Team next game:

1) Jamshed
2) Shehzad (last chance)
3) Umar Akmal
4) Misblock
5) Hafeez
6) Haris Sohail
7) Afridi
8) Azam
9) Ajmal
10) Junaid
11) Irfan

You are right Afridi but on this track it was always going to be tough chasing. The same thing happened the game before and was always going to happen today. Narine became unplayable when that could have been any of our 3 spinners.

Once again the batting lets us down. I actually knew once they got over 200 we wouldn't win this match. Top 3 batsman are awful. Jamshed was just as bad as Hafeez and Shehzad but got lucky on many occasions. Shafiq again gets out without putting in a shift and Umar Akmal should be coming in a lot earlier.

I actually do not fancy us winning when we have to chase a score over 180.

Series after series after series, we see the same thing.

Unable to chase, unbalanced team, scared batting.

I'm NOT blaming Shahid Afridi but this is what I was afraid of. He came in with an achievable target, yet got out and in came the tail enders.

I've ran out of patience with Asad Shafiq. 43 games he's had, he hasn't showed much in that, so he should be shown the door. Although he has been unlucky for most, ie played in the wrong position, not played consistently.

Similarly for Hafeez, what was this idiot thinking playing that shot?

Anyway we should be trying out new players, I am delighted that Umar Akmal and Jamshed made fifties today. They are the future of our cricket. Haris Sohail must play next match, and I feel we can afford to drop a seamer to play Umar Amin also.

Nasir Jamshed
Ahmed Shehzad
Mohammad Hafeez (he will not drop down)
Misbah Ul Haq
Haris Sohail
Umar Akmal (WK)
Umar Amin
Shahid Afridi
Junaid Khan
Saeed Ajmal
Mohammad Irfan

but ideally we should have every up one place and Hafeez just before Afridi.

Umar Amin is really going to improve the team

Robin – unfortunately you are always going to get that from Afridi. We cannot rely on winning a game by exceptional performances from a number 7 most of the time.

The problem is none other than MISBAH. Seriously. He should retire from limited overs cricket with immediate effect if he has any sense or wants the best for Pakistan cricket. He’s done well in last few years, but his dire captaincy, tactics, slowness at the crease, putting others under pressure, being critical of players publicly and unwillingness to let youngsters play their natural game is scandalous.

Nasir started off as an attacking player, playing his shots. Misbah dropped him for Farthat and ever since he’s become such an ugly player to watch. Shafiq is the same. Hafeez has lost it and has an attitude problem, but because he lives up misbahs backsideee, he gets into the team regularly.

Who replaces misbah? Dunno and quite frankly I don’t care either. But I cannot watching another year or two of this dross and trash.

Afridi14 I dont think Misbah should quit or step down as skipper. What we need is someone from the coaching or board to put pressure on the team to change there approach which is diabolical.

If someone bat's for 40+ balls and still cant get a S/R above 50 then they need to be questionned. There should be no reason in modern cricket to play out maidens. Bat need's to hit ball but our approach is even embarassing if it was test cricket.

Why is Umar Akmal at 6 is again pathectic.

Kash, that’s what I used to think. Misbah is solid, look at his average blah blah, but he’s probably doing more harm than good for Pakistani cricket. Theres no point of averaging 45 or whatever, when it takes up 150 balls and creates pressure for the rest of your team mates.

We need a coach that’s mean there, done it and got the t-shirt. Mohammad yusuf fits the bill 100%, but he was done over by the malik mafia a couple of years ago.

Also looking at Hafeez stats, he averages 16 in the last 10 innings. 3 of those innings vs west indies . Why isn’t misbah holding him accountable? Also, why is it that every other team has improved on the lower order batting, but we have to put up with 4 number 11s…!!!

A14, this is why i said if someone is batting really slow then someone from the management need to question him. It's not hard to rotate the strike but to block and leave is unacceptable. He does put too much pressure on the other batsman. It's a team game but Misbah is batting like an individual so he can boast impressive stats.

In the first one dayer Afridi got him out of jail as his Misbah's 50 was pathetic. It's a joke when our weakness is batting and that we don't have a batting coach. Players like Moyo, Inzi and Anwar are probably not being used because off there Wahabism but i'm sure they can find other coaches that have a pedigree.

Let's not forget Hafeez's stats would have been even worse if we exluded his ton V Ireland. His position baffles me more than anything. His spin bowling is useful but to have him as a top order batsman despite numerous failures is getting beyond the joke. Once again someone from the management need to drop him down the order but are gutless.

The only reason why Wahab gets in the team is because he can bat a little but when it comes to bowling but in 4 of his last 5 games he has FAILED to take a wicket. Just based on that he should be nowhere near the team and I'd rather have Gul back. He again needs to be dropped.

So, Pakistan drop and tell their most REALIABLE AND CONSISTENT player to fack off?!

This is the problem I have- All of sudden Nasir has been batting slow and who do you blame? Misbah Are you being serious?! In the last 6 games the team collapsed. Do you think the openers are going to feel all confident?!

But, no Misbah is to blame for Nasir's slowness. Well Misbah should also get praised for Afriid's performance in the first ODI then. You lot think Misbah selects who is in the squad etc... Well Misbah should get credit for bringing back Afridi by your logic.

Yes, as captain he needs to drop certain players, tell them to move down or up the order... If that happens it makes a BIG DIFFERENCE. Imagine Umar coming in at 3 scoring 50 from 46 like he did in the last game and Misbah being his typical self coming in at 4 and scoring 50 from 75...What do you get one attacking player, the other taking responsibility and being the anchor man- And what do you know a good total is posted.

All Misbah needs is technical players in front of him. Someone who can bat before him at 3 who is attacking and will score that 40-60 consistently. Then his innings will look good.

Misbah is the last of our problems.

Amir,

give the reason for misbahs slowness yesterday? There was no collapse, didnt he come in at 62-2 after about 17 overs? what happened to him? Ps, i wouldnt tell him to F off, i'd be polite and gentleman like . the guy has done well to a certain extent, but is now take up resources and effeccting us with negativity. All good things come to an end amir, as you'll find out very soon when benteke moves on

kash, disagree with your stance on wahab. He's improved a shed-load since his return and should be in the team with three seamers - junaid and irfan!

Really Afridi? If a bowler does not pick up a wicket in 4 of his 5 games he still get's in? His 47th over was a factor that cost us the game when he kept bowling length when Bravo and Pollard were teeing off. For me when Gul is fit he replaces Wahab. Not to sure about this Asad guy so I think it's back to the drawing board. Not sure why Ehsan Adil got dropped when he did not play in CT?

posted on 17/7/13

I mean you lot criticise Asad Ali who has hardly played any games. Don't you remember Junaid Khan first tour in WI's? Some of you did the same then when he hardly took wickets. I just don't understand. Give the guy time. Plus, I rather a Shafiq fail in the middle order rather than a Malik. That way at least we know he is learning.

Pakistan has had this batting problem for years. You saw the stats on Cricinfo since 2009 the problem occurred- And Misbah took over captaincy more than a year later- Towards the end of 2010.

Of the words reliable and consistent batsman, what do you not understand? Misbah played a pretty bad innings last game, and played a bad shot. But had he scored his typical 50 from 75 with Umar scoring 50 from 40 odd like he did. We would have won, no? That is what I'm talking about. He needs people like that around him. If someone else at 3 or in the middle can score that type of innings with Umar then it will bode well with Misbah's containing, long and slow innings.

My team for tomorrow:

1.Misbah
2. Misbah
3. Misbah
4. Misbah
5. Misbah
6. Misbah
7. Misbah
8. Misbah
9. Misbah
10. Misbah
11. Misbah

As Misbah eats up so many deliveries it is best he opens, but I also feel our best batsman should be at number 3- Misbah it is. But with the team constantly collapsing I feel he should also come in the middle order to save the team, but then again to make Misbah play aggressive he should come in the lower order. But, Misbah can bat extremely well with the tail so he should come in then too. But then again because he is utter rubbish and he is ruining Pakistan cricket he should come in at number 11.
