Whose callin for Umar Gul? Please Shushhhh! Do not remind PCB of him again!

posted on 18/7/13

No seriously, Misbah should come in at 3 and Umar moves up to 4 considering Shafiq is dropped next game. That way Shehzad, Jamshed, Umar- All aggressive players around him.

Umar Gul will and should come back after he recovers from surgery.

As for Moin Khan liking Malik, Faisal Iqbal, where do you know this from mate.

And almost every analyst and fan has atleast once in his life called Umar Akmal useless. But you don't worry Moin will back him. I personally have good expectations from this selector.

Ok Amir, lets get him back. Its so important to have a bowler who performs once in every 10 matches.

Better than Wahab

posted on 18/7/13

Wahab needs time, Gul has proved that he learns nothing with time.

posted on 18/7/13

Prefer Gul over Wahab. At least Gul gets wickets. Wahab's batting is not all that either.

posted on 18/7/13

agree wahab should stay in.... kash gave some stats the other day about the last 5 games, but what you have to remember is that, we batted first 4/5 of those and scored less than 200..... whats wahab suppose to do in those situations?

Amir - im quickly losing faith in misbah. i know he has a solid average and at times has saved us. But if anyone, ANYONE, had any doubt as to why he was nio-where near the team when the likes of younis, yusuf and inzy were around, then you only have to look at his recent performances to see why no-one really rated him. Thank God he didnt play amongst those guys - would have effected them too!!!

You guys may be getting old in age, but I truly believe Misbah is not naturally like this as a batsman. As I said before Misbah said the reason for him batting in this manner is to take responsibility because he is skipper and no-one else can play that anchor role.

Have a look at when he was not skipper, do you guys forget the 2007 T20 WC? Who took us to the final, practically on his own, due to his performances with the bat? Please don't mention what happen towards the end of the final. I'm talking about what he did to get us their. And what he did from a losing position to win to then lose in the final.

I just seen some scorecards from those matches 50 odd from 35 balls, 20 odd from 6 balls, match winning 60+ from 40 odd balls v Aus... If Misbah found himself in that situation now as skipper. He would not play like that. Why because there is no freedom for him to do so.

==============================
Let's break this down then:

2nd WI one dayer - WI batted first and he got 0 wickets
1st WI one dayer - We scored a respectable 224 but he failed to get a wicket
Practice match - Defending 240 he got 0 wickets
CT V India - Small total and he got a consolation wicket
CT V RSA - Bowled first and again failed to get a wicket.

That more or less ends your argument. Even our shocking batting cannot assist Wahab.

On Wahab I'd have him in the SQUAD, but not always my first choice. Wahab will always remain inconsistent, due to the fact that he relies on a lot on pace and cannot swing the ball in. Has he improved? Slightly more rigid, but has not improved what he should have- His wrist positon and swinging the ball in. Therefore, Wahab will perform now and again- Like he did in the WC, played 3-4 games before the semi, didn't perform then performed in the semi.

Forget about his batting, he gets selected for taking wickets, not whether he can score runs. Still prefer Gul. And, Asad Ali needs time- He'll go up the pecking order when he starts performing.

Was he also the captain in 2011 wc, literally lost the match on his own.

Kash, you aren't doing justice to wahabi be ause he comes on in games where the game is already lost or won.

Amir, why you giving us T20 stats to prove a point on his ODI record? . Like I said, he's done ok all things considered. But he's just taking the biscuit now.. The fact that he's now 39, and bit 29 means he won't change his ways either. Time to hang up his boots me thinks!

Who would get more wickets? Gul or Wahab? Answer is Gul. Both bowlers are likely to get tonked every now and then but Gully at least get's wickets.

posted on 18/7/13

To prove that he can play positive cricket, aggressive brand...He did in RSA, he did it in CT- The only problem is he needs to do it the majority of the time. What's even worse is if he did played in that manner, he'd probably score more runs...but he just doesn't seem to want to do it- Reason is fear more than anything.
But, point being he is not past it- If Misbah played aggressive and scored runs, which he can- No-one would moan, right? He just proven it a few months ago, yet he doesn't do it consistently. That's the only thing that gets my blood boiling.

just bat 1st, otherwise we'l fold like a chappati

But they need to work on chasing in series like this. We can't always rely on winning the toss.

posted on 19/7/13

we cant chase never have been able to, with these same batsmen i cant see it changing, if we make over 200 batting 1st i always have hope we can bowl any team out

Slugistan

i'd rather win the series than practice on our pathetic chasing. Like Kaz said even in the days of Inzi and Moyo we were poor when it came to chasing.

Also as i'm fasting I will swear less tonight if we are bowling

Lets hope we bat first then...
