Indians will always support india, whether they live in England or anywhere in the world. I would have loved to see more england fans though, but seems like they didnt buy tickets.
I think there is nothing wrong with that. Indian fans is what makes cricket stand out if anything. Im just wondering if the indian fans werent there, the stadium would have been empty. Maybe the england fans should have bought more tickets? cause even some of the england fans I saw, they were more or less pakistani fans in the ground.
The Midlands and South is a Indian and British Indian hotbed but for them to outnumber the English was suprising however the 50 over competition is not high on the agenda in Ashes year it seems.
The India fans are very passionate and the tickets all out very quickly.
When India played a friendly against Leicestershire, the tickets sold out within 40mins.
I went to watch India play a 2 nd string Northampton side and the stain was packed
I’m sick and tired of this bull about supporting your “local” team. There’s also an article on the bbc website about the game yesterday, and a lot of the comments have been deleted because they were damn right racist and bigoted because the british Indians support india. I’m all for banter, but what’s the need in taking it to extremes like that?
The majority of british Asians support the country of their heritage. Nothing wrong with that. I know many English folk that don’t bother with the England football team because they are sh£t…. doesn’t make them any less british than me or you does it?
Now, lets all get behind Andy Murray…… he’s gona bring the title home!!!!
The UK imports more Indians than any other race after Cameron sold his sole to the Indians to improve trade relations with India. The NHS look to India for medical staff, IT companies look to India for cheaper IT staff and now we are getting more students than ever from India.
Kumar will take over the UK as the most popular surname in 50 years
Agree with you also A14. Seem's to be a bigoted view with British Asians who support the team of there parents.
It's well known that people with Irish parents tend to support Ireland in football and people with Italian parents tend to support Italy in football.
End of the day I have to put Pakistani on every equal opportunities form so nothing wrong with supporting Pakistan whether its 2nd or 3rd generation.
Kash
what a rant..hahaha..
Indian are not only in the UK but they are in USA too, it's just we have so huge population so people tend to migrate for opportunities.
Talking about cricket, Eng don't care about ODI/T20 an't they? so how one can expect to fill stadiums with majority of Eng fans? not possible at all. Test matches lets's see what happens. ..Ashes will tell us some story.
Indians (corrections) sorry.
To add to that, they are in Aus too.
Whyal it's not a rant mate. My previous company that I used to work we used to go to India a fair bit to recruit Indian IT staff. The reason being that the government has relaxed laws with India so to get a working visa/permit is very easy.
The Indian government has been clever cos the like of US and UK want to trade but they have demanaded to trade then they need to allow Indians to have easier access to education in UK and US hence the surge of Indians.
Cheers Kash...just kidding..a banter.
End of the day I have to put Pakistani on every equal opportunities form so nothing wrong with supporting Pakistan whether its 2nd or 3rd generation.

Kash, why is there never a section on there for azad Kashmir?
Cricket is dying in "English" land.....You won't see that in Oz...

I posted that comment on yesterday but it was banter, Listen you made a vaild point and suprised I haven't got stick on here yet, I mean I suport scottish football team my dad was scottish and my mum is scottish but I spent most of my childhood in Essex and growing up I loved Cricket. Now I have no problem with who supported who yesterday, aslong as it a good game and good banter then bring it on. Shame football could learn a thing or two from cricket fans and thats saying it as a Celtic fan.
As for the game yesterday I think with the ashes coming up fans havent spent there money on this, not a excuse but anyone who thinks the Ashes won't be sold out is talking bull as mates of mine are struggling to get tickets.
I think the result yesterday over the tournement was the right one as India have been fantastic in the CT, I was glad we got some sort of a game and what a finish it was, glad to see India look a quality side and yesterday that was proven
Trott, KP, Stauss, Mahamood and few others choose to play for England/English county. It is their choice and one has to respect that. Now how is it any different when one chooses to support a different country than the one he/she is living in? Are all these questions coming up due to India's win? How would any one know if all those Indian fans hold UK passport? Get over it folks. India won because they played great cricket and their fans were little overboard. When ever Johnson comes to bowl the English sing a song. Now what do you call that? Banter? It's different packaging but same product in the end.
CT final tickets went on sale long before the tournament has started. I'd think majority of the fans bought the tickets to watch the finals. It just happened to be England vs India final.
As much as KP, Strauss have the right to play for England and deservedly so. We have the right to support Pakistan. However, that does not mean we dislike England in anyway. In actual fact I've always supported them when it comes to the Ashes. And, funnily my best cricketing moment has been that 2005 Ashes, nothing involving Pakistan. I've mentioned it before the greatest series and match I have watched occurred during the 05' Ashes. Support both countries, which a lot of people do.
Adotvilla <appaluse> well said mate and yes you have said that 2005 was one of your best moments in cricket and to be honest I would have to agree great game that was, just gutted I couldn't get a ticket, my best mate did and he still talks about it now
Agree. The fact that we still talk about it shows that we'll never forget. I seriously believe imo we won't see a better sporting moment like that again, for that Edgbaston game and over that summer.
Adotvillia
It meant so much as England had won the ashes since 1987.....so tense and great cricket I loved watching Warne Bowl his spinners, never forget the Mike Gatting famous bowl best ever
and also to point out, whichever team we support, it doesnt mean we hate other teams. I personally dont hate any team and it is fair to say most of us here dont hate any other teams just because they dont support them
ENG/INDIA great support

Was the final held in India???
Or was their some seriousely 1 sided ticket allocations going on?
I mean i know birmingham is extremely 'multi cultural' but Damnnn....
saw pretty much a hand full of england fans.
Would i be right in thinking that probably about 80% of the india fans there are english!
Come on guys support ur local team n all that.
