Will probably turn out to be one of those phantom transfers, and the club will say we've never been interested in him....

I was just about to post this link!

I really hope he is in talks with us!

Liverpool may miss out on Armenian Henrikh Mkhitaryan, 24, after the Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder rubbished reports linking him to Anfield.

Awful reporting from the press as he has not rubbished reports at all but still.

If he was to be a replacement for Luis then Shakhtar can keep him! Would have Suarez all day.

The question is 'are FSG taking the Mhki?'

Why are we sold hung up getting Mkhitaryan anyway?

I don't get why we are so desperate to get him.

Agreed, he's a bit overrated.

General series of events goes as follows.

We are linked to some random player who is said to be the next best thing by journos fabricating stories - there was probably no interest on our part whatsoever so that people would place bets on the player joining and the gambling companies make money.

The signing never happens.

FSG/Brendan is blamed for messing up even if we had no interest in the player whatsoever.

http://sport.news.am/eng/news/25572/liverpool-agree-on-mkhitaryan-transfer.html

Armenian website quoting Russian news from yesterday stating its all done and dusted. This could be a drawn out turansfer

"England’s Liverpool FC have reached an agreement on the transfer of Armenian national football team and Ukraine’s FC Shakhtar Donetsk attacking midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Sovsport.ru reports. But there is still no official information about this news.

“Liverpool have agreed on Mkhitaryan’s transfer and will pay £20 million for the player,” the source informs"

Shakhtar are a very difficult club to deal with when it comes to transfers and it would not surprise me if this deal doesn't happen.

It would be a shame if it doesn't happen as I think he is a terrific player. On the flip side, although he has been knocking them in for fun for Shakhtar he's unproven in the top leagues and £22m is a lot of money to pay for him. It would a massive gamble.

You're a bit overrated

Come on let's face it Mkhitaryan would only be a back up for Downing.

He's become he Ian Evatt of the January transfer window.

If they just sold fernandinho to city for £30m,i can't see them letting go of mkhitaryan for less, especially as he was the top goalscorer in the league,i think this one is all media mischief, eriksen is more realistic

ARE I doubt that you have never see him play, and you make a opinion like that. and no doubt you say you have

If Liverpool dont speak out within the next few days and say that we have no interest in the players... Then there must be something going on....

It's a interesting one this!

The Turan thing was never linked by anyone apart from the 606 Liverpool board

If Liverpool speaks out and say they are not interested they would be never ending of all the players we have been linked to

Paper talk, the lot of it, getting boring now. One thing of interest though. IF and this is a big IF, this guy tries to engineer a move away from his current club, by hook or by crook, say by turning up late for pre season etc, would you really want him? Would it not be a bit hypocritical, when looking at it in the same light as what Suarez seems to be doing now?

Why should the club deny what basically are nothing more than twitter rumours at the moment?

posted on 25/6/13

The Echo maintain our interest in Mhki, but recognise its a difficult transfer that is in the balance.

I have no reason not to believe them seeing as they don't get much wrong.

Also today they say talk of Henderson being sold is false, and that we are interested in Wanyama, but it hasn't gone any further than interest at this stage and nothing about a bid being imminent.
