i thtink we just need a lw and a cm based on the performance so far ... oh and ivanovic at right back
decent first half , we are rushing play from the defence , a few long balls not working out. We need to more movement off the ball and take kalou off
I think Torres is looking ℓíKê the Liverpool Torres...very sharp, and willing to take on defenders.
Looks ℓíKê his confidence is gradually getting back.
Sturridge keeps proving why he has to ßë in the starting line-up, even though he's not playing in his natural position.
Lampard remains anonymous as usual, Kalou is Kalou.
Overall, I think it has been an average performance, though it has been effective, but nothing mind-blowing!
This is my verdict!
Need a modric or Fabregas
Mikel is Mikel, Kalou is Kalou.
And when they are on the pitch, problems will persist.
the link up play between sturridge and ramires been very good.
think torres is getting back up to scratch now, making runs, taking people on, not afraid to keep the ball or to shoot and playing some dangerous passes.
only real weak links imo are kalou and ferriera, attack wise. think lampard has been decent, hes kept things ticking and heavily involved in first goal.
mikel didnt put a foot wrong, the only bad moment for him was when he lost the ball under pressure when he could have passed, apart from that hes kept things moving and slowed rangers down when needed.
I'm sure Mikel has been good, as usual
Nope, he contributed little. He was slow on the ball. And slowed our midfield dowm.
Glad he's injured. Hope for a leg break.
Ok that was harsh, I take the leg break thing back...
but he was poor.
he does the exact same thing as mceachran who is constantly praised. Both take their time on the ball to pick the right passes. xavi slows barcelona down a lot of the time, but thats because he has the sense to look for a pass rather than just passes anywhere.
hes been good but cant be bothered to debate mikel again

Exactly what I said

I'll say one last thing then.
Xavi slows play, to an extent, but possesses more imagination and creativity in his earlobes than ten Mikels would possess in their entire bodies.
He finds a good pass, and he can also up the tempo.
And you may say, well Mikel is a DM, but Makalele was too and he was the conductor of our team.
And one of my criticisms of Barca is they pass too often for the sake of passing. Mikel just dithers on the ball, either loses it or passes it backward.
why do we have Xavi and Mikel in the same convo?? Lets not disrespect Xavi. As for him slowing down play....have you not seen the numerous times when hes just standing still looking around and does just one sublime mid height ball right to messis feet to go one on one and score?.
im not comparing Mikel to Xavi im saying that he slows on the ball to pick the right pass, xavi is arguably the best player in the world, mikel doesnt have the same range of passing but he is still had the most successful pass rate in the premier league. Hes never going to be a world class playmaker but as a back up DM to essien he is hardly bad to have.
Only two teams can say that they have a better 2nd choice DM, madrid and barca and madrid are likely to sell diarra anyway
Mikel is much better than Diarra - Diarra is just a headless chicken who get's useless bookings
still had the most successful pass rate in the premier league
-
not hard if you only pass backwards or less than ten feeet.
but lets agree to disagree

Look, don't restart the argument by saying something that is obviously wrong. I just closed it.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I dunno about that!
gullit. who else has a DM as good as mikel for back up then?

Even though I know you love Mikel, even I know that your saying that toung in cheek.
Diarra - tried at 3 big teams - failed at 3 big teams. People still rate him. Mikel's much better
Sorry but Diarra isn't very good. like I said, just runs around conceding useless fouls.
Mikel- failed everywhere minute on the pitch
Diarra deserved to stay at the blues. We all know selling was a mistake.
Diarra is proven quality.
I'd even swap Mikel for Parker.
mikel is so bad yet every single manager we have had whilst mikel has been here as chosen to play him on a regular basis, in the last few seasons even if essien has been fit mikel would still start in the same team. No one has chosen to sell him.
so all those managers who have acheived so much, mourinho, ancelotti, scolari(international) have all been wrong?
