I really want Button to win this.
I am fully aware of how incredibly unrealistic it is but it would be one hell of a story. When all hope seemed lost, he finally turns his season around by claiming the home grand prix victory he has craved for 14 years.
And the loyal British crowd are rewarded too as Lewis Hamilton takes 2nd and Paul di Resta claims 3rd to take his first ever podium and complete the dream eesilt of an All-British Top 3!!!
Call me an old romantic.
Realistic Prediction:
1) Vettel
2) Alonso
3) Hamilton
man unt devil
alot depends on merc -- they have just completed 3 days of free testing over everybody else in which they would have been trying out various improvements to the car not to mention a free 3 days of free testing to further work on there tyre degradation problems -
merc have always had the quickest qual pace if they were smart which they are , or rather ross brawn is , in fact he is very very smart mercedes would have used the free testing to improve the car in several areas which may mean they have a strong race pace at silverstone as well as there qual dominance ,
vettel and alonso will be strong , lotus have significant upgrades so they could be very strong
martial artist"s prediction -- one of the mercs to get pole - vettel and alonso to get past both of them by lap 20 -- vettel to beat alonso for the win , kimi raikk for third place -
if it rains forget my prediction because it will throw everybody a curved ball , alonso is probably the best wet driver out there but there are to many other variable to consider to pick a winner if it it does rain
--- in other words i dont have a flucking clue who will win if the weather is either wet , damp , or changeable --
As I'm lazy I'll steal my earlier posts from another thread
Its looking like a dry race so it should be a Alonso win. He was close to winning in Canada but his poor qualifying left him with to much to do on Sunday. If he can qualify well then at a track like this Alonso has the talent for there to be no excuses if he isn't at least be in the fight for the win.
We'll have to see which Lotus turns up this time but in the race we should see the Red Bulls, Alonso and Kimi all fighting to fill the podium. The Mercedes will do their usual trick and qualify well so who ever deals with them the earliest may get the chance to build a lead.
I think in Canada Vettel had a very fast car, we saw what times Webber could do even with damage. That said he ran his whole race out of traffic and without someone snapping at his gearbox. Had Alonso been able to get at Vettel earlier I feel he would have forced Vettel into using to much of his tyres and then would have cruised himself to a victory.
We'll have to see how silverstone pans out, we should see the Red Bull of Vettel exposed to more traffic anyway
My curve ball prediction is that two of either Vettel, Alonso or Kimi to collide at the first corner and begin the mind games season proper.
Mercedes to look strong and then end up 4 stopping as their rivals 2-3 stop
Webber to pick up the spoils?
who knows.

Surely my phone should've worked out I was trying to type result.
Yup. Crazy works too, Daredevil.
The last time a british driver won it was 2008. I hope that changes this weekend.
If the finger wins, I imagine he'll get the reception he's been getting at every venue so far this season
FP1 under way. Hamilton top of the timesheets for now. Charles Pic has crashed

Bit wet here this morning. Looking brighter now and track drying following GP2 practice. Pic crashed right in front of us, could tell where he was going as he snapped left.
'Bit wet' of course being in relation to the swamp last year!
Lucky basteward, wish I was there too
Until you've been soaked to the skin for 6 hours it classes as a bit of light rain
its the British way!
Moved to thr pit straight so didnt see the crash though the walk of shame looked a bit embarrasing.
GP2 quali now, there are a few british talents out there to cheer on so looking forward to this.
