Pretty sure they do Dunc. I wouldn't tell this lot you don't rate them anymore.

i expect us to win the league, compete in the CL and compete in the cups, anything less would be an insult to the players and manager.

this is a squad that won it last year at a canter despite playing awfuly at times.

Moyes will want to win the league this season and will not settle for anything less im sure.

Dunc, while we won it easily last year, you can't seriously think it'll be anywhere near as easy this year. City & Chelsea have/are going to, spend an absolute fortune, they will be far, far stronger than they were.

If we do win, it wont be anything like the margin we enjoyed last year.

Jay
That is the most overused cliche.

What if Moyes came in and did a clean sweep? Would people start wondering what if Ferguson had retired sooner??

posted on 1/7/13

of course not, but i'd also expect us to strengthen this year too.

to suggest we should be happy with 2nd or third is wrong.

moyes is taking over a team who know how to win titles which is a benefit for him ( and also a reason why he shouldnt tinker too much in his first season).

people are saying we will struggle because we have a new manager, but so do city and so do chelsea.

Raf, what?

I'm not suggesting that we will certainly get 3rd. I can see any of City/Chelsea/United winning it, aswell as finishing in any of the top 3 positions. I think it's going to be the first time in a long time we've had a 3 horse race for the league.

All i'm saying is it wouldn't be the end of the world should we get 3rd, as long as we're challenging. I guess the context of 3rd is quite important. It isn't because of Moyes. I'd be a lot more confident if we signed Thiago

What?
----------------
I am saying there would be no difference if Moyes was called Moyesinho.
This term is very overused *replace a players name with "inho" at the end.
The fact is that this is a manager who hasn't won a single meaningful trophy.
Even if he was British,Brazilian, Spanish or German the perception won't change.

I actually believe Fergie should have retired sooner. Moyes will be successful, of that, I have no doubts

You also believed we will beat Real Madrid.

Raf, we should have beaten Madrid. We would have beaten Madrid but for a farcical decision.

We should have, we lost because the manager didn't adapt his tactics as a result of the sending off.

Yeah but history books won't mention the Nani Red card. They'll only say Madrid went through

raf,

youve just got a phobia for anything British, and to be fair its pretty pathetic.

Pretty sure any history books that involve that game, will show the red card down as a statistic.

Yeah but a neutral will only look at the final result and not fancy statistics.

City have also changed manager who also has never managed in england so he will have to adapt. Everyone is pretty sure mourinho will pick up where he left off which might not be the case. Moyes just needs to add the right players his everton team was mcuh like ours poor at the start but will go on a great run christmas onwards

Fortunately, we don't really care what a neutral thinks about the game. Much the same way that I doubt Chelsea fans care that everyone thinks they were lucky to win the CL.

We're content in the knowledge we put up a hell of a fight, should have won but for a terrible decision.

We don't care what the records will show, I doubt it's a game that most of us will forget in short order...

I expect United to do a Quadruple. Anything less is a failure!

I also don't think Mourinho will have the same impact as first time round. The core of players isn't the same so a lot depends on what players he can bring in.
